We spent one wonderful month at Lucia and Andrea’s winery in Italy, and it was honestly an amazing experience. We worked in the vineyards in the mornings, pruning the vines for next year’s growth, and learned so much every single day. Lucia and Andrea are the kindest and most generous hosts we’ve ever met. They genuinely care about the well-being of every volunteer, pay attention to food preferences, and are always happy to share their knowledge about their wine production. They made the most amazing meals that we shared together everyday. Their goal is for volunteers to enjoy living together, meeting new people, and creating meaningful memories. Lucia welcomed us with empathy and kindness, which meant a lot to us. Our group of volunteers was amazing too, we lived together, played cards and dice, went on trips (with Lucia's fantastic Fiat Punto), sang karaoke, walked around with our dog, and drank amazing wine. A huge thank you to Lucia and Andrea for their hospitality and generosity, and also to Francesco and Igor for teaching how to prune the vines. We are truly grateful for this experience and highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn, connect, and enjoy life in a beautiful place.

This was my very first experience WWOOFing. I feel like I have a new family in Sicily. I have never felt so welcomed and so instantly part of a family as I did with Nino and Gianfranco at Orto Infesta. Gianfranco and Nino are building something very special at their farm….a place for people to visit, learn, volunteer, and mangia…a place for people to purchase local, organically grown fruits and vegetables. A place where kids can come and learn. And a future agritourism destination where visitors to Marsala can connect and experience real food. During my WWOOFing experience we harvested and boxed vegetables and fruits. I was also so fortunate to visit them during Olive Harvest season - so we spent many of my days at the different olive tree farms. And, after those harvests, we brought the olives to the oil production facility to see our hand picked olives turned into some of the best, most delicious and certainly most authentic olive oil in the world….from olive tree to table in its purest form! As I mentioned to Nino and Gianfranco, some of my favorite times took place at our daily meals. A time for sharing and connecting…whether at the home table or sitting under an olive tree. That’s where the real Sicilian magic happened…as people from different parts of the world came together as a family. Once again…thank you Nino and Gianfranco for your innate kindness, your authentic desire to give to me, to all of your visitors, and to your community.

Grazie Silvia e Stefano, vi voglio tanto bene

I spent 2 incredible weeks at Fattoria Gioia in november: harvesting olives, herding and melking goats. I learned a lot as Maurizio and the other helpers could explain so many things. I loved the family life, the amazing food, the discussions about school education in Germany and Italy, playing cards, enjoy the fireplace - and the four lovely dogs (I lost a bit my extreme fear of dogs!). You have your own big room sharing the bathroom with other wwoofers, if there are. The view to the mountains - Gran Sasso - is amazing!

We had a lovely time at Paolos Place. He is such a calm, funny and interesting person and made us feel at home right away. We also met his mum and a few of his friends who are also very sweet. Because of the season, we didn’t do much at his farm... Instead we ate good Italian food, met kind people, had inspiring conversations in “Italenglish”, visited Rome and made some trips in the beautiful surroundings of Riofreddo. We would love to come again to help Paolo at his farm and to do some Trecking with him and Caterina through the mountains of Abruzzo. Walli&Lotte <3

I Soffioni was truly a special place for our first Wwoof experience. Fede and Manu are wonderful, warm, kind, and generous people who managed to balance their farming duties with the needs of their three sweet kids (and very cute dog Selki), all while sharing their knowledge with us and cooking us delicious piemontese food every day. I felt respected, cared for, and valued during my time here. The work expectations are clearly defined and very reasonable, and Fede and Manu have attitude of openness and curiosity that enables a true cultural exchange. These sweet people were also so unbelievably patient and encouraging with my beginner Italian and taught me a lot not only on the farm, but also through our conversations! Zoë and I are grateful for our time here ~ grazie, grazie!!
