WWOOF in Italy

WWOOF Italia is the national organization helping to create local WWOOFing opportunities in Italy and to promote sustainable farming as a lifestyle.

Visitors, or 'WWOOFers', share in daily life with their host and learn about organic agriculture, while spending about half of each day helping out on a farm.

Silvia and her father are wonderful hosts and we enjoyed our time with them. We spent time taking care of the animals and garden and also on long walks around the area. We hope to WWOOF with Silvia again!

My time at the Mandali lighthouse was amazing! From the way of welcoming me & the other two wwoofers with eating chestnuts directly from an open fire to our goodbye with a circle of gratitude. I stayed there in October and we were only 3 in the enormous house. The work was divided over two locations: the lighthouse & the Mandali retreat. Around the lighthouse we worked mainly in the garden, working further on their future plans. We digged a lot and we created terraces for the food forest. We started at 9.30 and finished around 3.30-4pm. Lisa & George are like yin & yang, forming the perfect balance. I learnt a lot, not only about permaculture but also on a personal level. Lisa showed us how to make bread, yoghurt, fresh pasta, etc. and her mum gave us a little workshop about making soap. We were invited into their lives which made me feel at home quickly. The work at the Mandali retreat was also really nice & we got treated like colleagues directly. Everyone there was so friendly & willing to help. As this was my first Wwoof experience I can't compare to other projects, but I highly recommend this amazing place & project! Oh, to the future wwoofers: if you wonder who made that huge painting in the bedroom.. that would be me!!

I had a beautiful experience here. Lucia, Francesco and Andrea are incredibly generous, caring people and it was a joy to get to know them. The work was easy going and not too strenuous and the food and wine were incredible! I loved every single frosty morning and cosy afternoon and would happily return for another stay here, it was amazing.

If you are open minded and able to get out of your comfort zone then you will certainly enjoy Peter’s farm. I was there for a little less than two weeks with three other WWOOFers we had a nice thing going. The nature around Peter’s property is unbelievable please take the time to explore. Right next to the complex is a dry river with some of the most incredible boulders I’ve ever seen. Peter’s an interesting guy and fun to talk with. Definitely a place you want to be with other WWOOFers it’s kinda isolated. Peter was kind enough to drive us to Etna and we had an amazing hike up

Madame Tiziana is a very nice lady. This was my first time to be a wwoofer. She helped me to recognize different types of trees and how to keep those trees. Sometimes we cooked together and talked a lot. She often drove me to the towns and cities nearby. The bedroom is very big and has private bathroom. Very cozy!

My experience at Podere il Bosco was incredible. My mom and I came to this farm to help with the olive harvest, experience the local life in Tuscana, and immerse ourselves in nature. We originally planned on only spending one week here because of limited traveling time but ended up spending two weeks at the farm (almost our entire holiday). Isabella and Mila are incredible hosts: very friendly, great cooks, and so caring. The work was varied and never boring and Isabella was flexible with our days off so we could explore the nearby villages. The olive harvest was the best. I learned so much about how to harvest olives, the different kinds of olives, and of course had so much delicious oil. I highly recommend volunteering at Podere il Bosco, you will not regret it!

Me and my partner spent a wonderful week here in December, helping with the pruning. Absolutely too short and we hope to return! We were immediately welcomed by the joyful, generous and inclusive atmosphere. Lucia and her family truly cares about providing an extraordinary wwoofing experience! The lunches were beyond delicious and filled with laughter and conversations, warming both hearts and stomachs for the rest of the day. In the evenings we cooked our own dinners from the abundance of groceries provided by Lucia. During this time in the winter, the rooms were a bit cold, but there were heating blankets in the beds and fireplaces in the kitchen and living room. We were not too cold, but it’s good to bring warm cloths in this period. The area around the farm was beautiful and perfect for long walks, and we could borrow a car. We never felt isolated or out of things to do during the free time. This is a very warm and lovely place, perfect for learning both wine making and Italian, while enjoying good food and company, and contributing in meaningful activities.
