Il casolare e’ ubicato a 6 km dal paese di Noto (Siracusa), capitale del barocco della Sicilia orientale. Immersa nel verde dei carrubi e degli ulivi secolari della valle ai piedi della rocca di Noto Antica, la casa è accogliente, fresca d’estate e riparata nel mite inverno siciliano. E’ disponibile una stanza ed all’occorrenza vi sono luoghi adatti al campeggio in tenda. Il terreno (3 ha) è assolutamente bio, "restaurato" dopo decenni di abbandono. Vi sono alberi secolari di arancio, limoni, mandarini, nespoli, cachi, melograni, noci e persino banani. Il lavoro consiste nella pulizia del terreno, la raccolta dei frutti stagionali, l’irrigazione estiva, la coltivazione dell’orto e l’ordinaria manutenzione della casa. Il torrente e la piccola fonte mantengono un microclima umido simil-tropicale. C’è chi dipinge sulla porcellana i fiori delicati dei campi siciliani, si diletta nella cucina tradizionale dove raggiunge il sublime nella preparazione delle focacce a base di verdure selvatiche; e chi si occupa dei mille lavori che il campo richiede: la pulizia dalle erbacee che in estate sono a rischio d’incendio, la manutenzione dell’impianto idrico, l’orto, la Stradella, la continua riconquista del terreno che la natura rigogliosa tenta sempre di riprendere. The house is located 6 km from the town of Noto (Syracuse), the baroque capital of eastern Sicily. Immersed in the green of carob and ancient olive trees of the valley at the foot of the fortress of Noto Antica, the house is cozy, cool in summer and sheltered in the mild Sicilian winter. A room is available and if necessary there are places suitable for camping in tents. The land (3 ha) is absolutely organic, restored after decades of neglect. There are century-old orange, lemon, mandarin, medlar, persimmon, pomegranate, walnut and even banana trees. The work consists of cleaning the land, harvesting seasonal fruit, summer irrigation, growing the vegetable garden and routine maintenance of the house. The stream and the small spring maintain a humid, tropical-like microclimate. There are those who paint on porcelain the delicate flowers of the Sicilian fields, delight in the traditional cuisine where it reaches the sublime in the preparation of focaccia made with wild vegetables; and those who take care of the thousands of jobs that the field requires: the cleaning of the herbaceous plants that in summer are at risk of fire, the maintenance of the water system, the garden, the Stradella, the continuous reconquest of the land that the lush nature always tries to resume.
