Nulla qui è svolto frettolosamente, tutto avviene in maniera calma, presente e mindfull. Pole pole, in swahili, significa infatti “piano piano”. A presto ! ---o----o----o-----0-----o----o--- Pole Pole is a 'wilderness oasis where we learn together the harmony of all that moves. Living, not simply telling, an alternative to the hurried and distracted city existence. Located just an hour's bus ride from Rome, Pole Pole offers a place with woods, pastures, springs, a stream, olive groves, where to encounter dormice, squirrels, hedgehogs, crabs, toads and an array of wildlife of every colour and shape. Francesco is an environmental engineer, permaculturist and father of his son Pietro who lives in Rome. Klara recently finished her studies in Environmental Protection and Agricultural Food Production in Germany. Now, she works on the farm and in research. Our idea is as clear as it is ambitious: to achieve food and energy self-sufficiency, doing so in balance with the natural flows around us. The principles of permaculture, syntropic regenerative agriculture are the basis of our guiding criteria. We have many small big projects underway, such as: a bioswimming pool, vegetable garden, olive grove, an off grid tiny house and many others we hope to devise together with you. Completing our family are two dogs and a cat named Poep. We can accommodate you in two caravans with room for three people. We are vegan, but we are respectful of everyone's choices. Nothing here is carried out hastily, everything happens in a calm, present and mindful way. Pole pole, in Swahili, in fact means "slowly slowly." Bye-bye and see you soon! I had a great time at Pole Pole! The farm is in a beatiful and secluded area, so that being there felt like being in a peaceful little bubble. The day usually started with breakfast with Francesco and Klara, where we'd plan some chores for the day. Things like gathering wood and hay, replacing seedlings, harvesting potatoes and clearing paths. Since I was there mid-summer, we started work early, and when it got too hot to work, had a long break until it cooled. In the meantime, I usually enjoyed the natural swimming pool, where insects and other little animals gather to drink and live. The food was great, and the mealtime conversations interesting and engaging, and I learned a lot in my stay. There is rarely any rush at Pole Pole, and I had plenty of time to breathe while I worked. The caravan I slept in was very comfortable, and a nice space to have as ones own. I also had great company in their two gentle giants, the dogs Norbert and Madli. Thank you for a great experience!

To stay at Pole Pole was a wonderful experience. I was warmly welcomed and always felt comfortable due to Francesco’s hostable and open-minded manner. I learned a lot about the principles of permaculture and gained a new perspective on living within the nature. While working together I acquired a lot of new skills. It was easy to feel home and I enjoyed every task which were never mandatory but decided together. The place itself is located in a calm area surrounded by forest. It is very beautiful with an amazing wildlife to explore - and the cutest cat and donkeys. Thanks for making this month such a wonderful time.
