I'm Paolo, I live in Sacile (PN), in Friuli, I started farming in the mountains of my area, in a small town in the Pedemontana del Cansiglio called Lama di Som. I grow berries and vegetables and I raise bees trying to experiment alternative methods, respectful of the environment and of people, putting my knowledge as a Biologist into practice. For example, I'm dealing with the use of useful insects and natural treatments to control pests and plant diseases, and I am going to deepen the techniques of sap analysis and the role of soil microorganisms to increase plant health, trying to create a virtuous balance in this little corner of unspoiled paradise, offering healthy food and studying the mechanisms that favour the development of life in a natural context. I really like to combine the efficiency of new technologies with the simplicity of traditions and I would also like to involve experienced Permaculture people to organize courses related to land management and care activities and sustainable agriculture. I need help in harvesting fruit and managing agricultural activities in general, but above all I would like to share this experience with open-minded people, willing to learn, to be in company, to offer interesting ideas and useful ideas . I speak English and some Spanish. I offer hospitality for maximum 4 people in 2 rooms for 2 people each. There is also place for a tent. The time I spent with Paulo was truly enriching. He is extremely knowledgeable and explained farming to me in great detail. I was given plenty of options regarding my daily routine and work, and was free to choose as I wished. As the berries hadn’t ripened yet during my stay, I’d love to visit next time when the fruit Paulo has tended so carefully is in season. Thank you very much.

Farm: It's a small farm in the mountains with a size of less than one hectar. There are a lot of different berries growing, mostly raspberries and blueberries. The farm is very off-grid, so you need a car for going to the city. Work (in summer): Mostly berry picking, chopping wood, cleaning land. We built a storage of firewood during my stay. Daily routine: usually starting at 9 am after breakfast, working for 3 hours in the morning, having lunch and work for around 3 hours in the afternoon (sometimes less, depending on weather and workload) Accomodation: We slept in a shed on camp beds, which was perfectly fine. Food: Very tasty, sometimes prepared from Woofers, sometimes from Paolo or from his mother who's supporting him a lot. The highlight were deer meat with salad made from Paolo's mother and pork curry made from a Woofer. Free time: usually one free day a week, but if you want to go for a trip (as we did) Paolo always will find a solution together with you. Activities besides work: there are several hiking trails next to the farm which are worth to go there. All in all the living and working together was very chilled, so there was never a stressful atmosphere and Woofers are seeing as Woofers and not as fulltime employees. Paolo wants to make everyone feel comfortable on his farm and enjoys the company of people from different nations and cultures. I can recommend a stay here.

Belle expérience de cueillette (et plus) des petits fruits en plein milieu de la forêt, avec mon garçon (6 ans).

We stayed for five days with our children (ages 7 and 4), and our family had an absolutely wonderful experience at Paolo’s farm. Paolo is a warm-hearted and passionate person who generously shared his love with our family. He was thoughtful in making sure the children could enjoy their time without any pressure, and sometimes even played with them like a young boy himself. We are truly grateful for his kindness. Our work included berry picking and maintaining the fields. As a science teacher, Paolo puts great care into his berries, and we could really feel how special they were. The other WWOOFer who stayed with us was also a lovely person. We would love to come back here again. We highly recommend staying at here.

I stayed with Paolo for three amazing weeks––and I will treasure this time forever! From the moment I arrived, I felt so welcomed into this beautiful world. I was so inspired by Paolo's knowledge, and his excitement to share all he knew (from sap analysis to nettle fermentation to Tom Waits!) We ate most of our meals together, and had so many wonderful talks about life and culture (and music!). The farm overlooks the whole valley, and when the sky was clear, we could see Venice. Although it wasn't the berry harvest during my stay, there was always something to do and learn at Paolo's! Together we plastered walls, fed and tended to the bees, tied berry vines/bushes, and weeded. I learned so so much–so many basic skills like chopping wood and moka and tending to the fire, but also many important lessons about life. Paolo is a great teacher, especially because he is happy to teach you AND trust that you can do it. I really hope to return someday.

I stayed at "Frutti di Bosco" for just a few days, but wished I could have stayed longer. The farm, home and view are beautiful. Paulo was a great host: preparing delicious meals for us to share, pouring cold glasses of Prosecco, and spending evenings trading music. He was clear about expectations, and I worked very reasonable hours. The berries were delicious. I also had the chance to meet many of his neighbors and listen to conversations in regional Italian dialect. My stay with Paulo was wonderful, and I highly recommend Paulo's farm.
