---o----o-----0-----o----o--- My name is Cesare Bulegato, and I am Federico Bulegato's son (and coworker). He is the owner of our small family farm, La Zucca Vuota, based on organic and local agriculture in which the only chemicals allowed are water and our elbow grease. Our two hectares are home to the two ponies Goccia and Guendy, the goats Sandra and Raimondo and their two puppies, as well as a small herd of ducks and chickens of all sorts, four cats and the legendary dog Milly. In addition to selling eggs, we grow tulips, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries that people come to self-harvest; over time, self-harvesting has also extended to the inevitable seasonal vegetables, with the birth of the Gombini (vegetable gardens in foster care). A small piece of the remaining land is also entrusted to a group of amateur farmers (Compagnia Zappa&Rastrello). Together with other farms in the area (which provide other vegetables and cheese) we have a home delivery service for more than 10 families. In addition, this year we are opening our small agricamping dedicated to tourists who like to 'stay in nature' without renouncing the possibility of getting to Venice or Treviso quickly by train, car or public transport. Wwoofing with us means having a comfortable caravan all to yourself, internet access, bathroom and kitchen shared with tourists from all over the world; it means being able do a wide range of jobs and chores offered by the animals and plants, those you prefer to do (in agreement with us, of course!). My father and I love working and chatting in company, and we are always ready to learn or teach something new; my father especially likes to experiment. We offer a pleasant stay in company, in a place that is free of the city but not too far away. We are available to give rides to the centre of Mogliano and to the train station, and of course to lend bicycles. In addition to all our activities on the farm, we take an active part in the ARCA Mogliano association, which deals with planting, environmental awareness and social aggregation, especially among young people: you can easily find its website and Facebook page and Instagram. Note: In addition to accommodations, we generally prepare lunch (except Sundays) and a mid-morning snack, to have all together! We prefer to leave breakfast and dinner to our guests, but we do provide a well-stocked pantry! Important: We don't ask you to work more than 4 hours a day (excluding Sundays), generally in the morning.

A clean and beautiful farm. The host has been kind and available with all my requests. The nearby area is calm and peaceful, but it's possible to quickly reach the centre of the town, where a train station is available and public transportation works well! By the way, the host lends bicycles for free!

I had an incredible time during my 10-day stay at La Zucca Vuota for my first WWOOFing experience. Cesare and Federico are amazing hosts – open, kind, and always willing to share their knowledge and recommendations. My daily routine consisted of about 4 hours of work, which included harvesting fruit, planting, and helping prepare the soil for strawberry cultivation. The tasks were not only rewarding but also enjoyable, and I truly learned a lot. The farm itself is a beautiful and peaceful place, perfect for relaxing after work. They even lent me a bicycle, which allowed me to explore nearby towns. Thanks to their tips, I also got to discover some stunning spots in the area. Another big plus is that the farm is only about 20 minutes by train from Venice, making it very easy to visit. Overall, my time at La Zucca Vuota was a 10/10 experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to WWOOFing. Highly recommended!

Cesare and Federico were super accommodating and kind hosts and the perfect place to start our journey in Italy! We enjoyed our midmorning snack time immensely, where we were able to learn a lot about the surrounding sights and cities, as well as get to know those two on a personal level. They also indulged in our many questions about agriculture and their experiences, which we greatly appreciate! Their strawberries were to die for and we gladly used our morning strength to pick bowl after bowl, if only so we could try one or two ourselves. If you like hearing enthusiastic quacking and whatever sounds chickens make :P while harvesting plums and eating your breakfast this is a farm we'd definitely recommend! Coupled with amazing sunsets and a quiet, serene nightlife to stargaze, there is nothing left to wish for. Thank you so much for the amazing experience and we wish you all the best!

Second stop of our trip was on the farm "La Zucca Vuota". We spend a total of 11 days there. Our workdays were quite flexible. We could start between 7 and 8, then work for 4 hours with a snack break. You've got the sunday free and can also work more on some days to have off on others. We did a lot on the beds from harvesting beans (fagioli and fagiolini) to pulling out weeds. If it got to sunny, we could do something in the shadow as well. To spice things up, we'd recommend downloading some podcasts (we really loved to listen to some true crime stories while working). The afternoons we spent visiting neighbouring cities like Venezia, Trentino,..... and our absolute favorite place: Lago di Santa Croce. You really need to swim there, it's amazing. I'd look up the hiking tour before though (the 16km komoot-trip just follows the mainstreet). Food we mostly cooked ourselves and ate in the the kitchen or outdoors. We didn't spend too much time with Cesare and Francesco at first since they were sick, the two lunches we got to have with them and the snack times were amazing and full of interesting conversations though. Cesare also gave us really good tips on what to visit and took us to lovely game evenings. He really made a huge effort to make us feel comfortable despite beeing sick. Thank you two for this experience! PS to all Wwoofers: Don't forget your sunscreen and uv-shirt!
