Fattoria Familiare, allevamento bovini, orto per la vendita, fattoria mista , olivi, frutteto, ortaggi , Superficie della mia proprietà: 300 ettari Certified Organic: Si dal 1999 SUOLO E SALUTE Tecniche agricole: Controllo biologico dei parassiti, Compostaggio, Rotazione delle colture, Sovescio, Pacciamatura, Permacoltura. Pratiche: foraggi- piccoli frutti - coltivazione, panificazione, erbe aromatiche, orticoltura, grani antichi, fieno/seminativo, erbe medicinali, frutteti, conservazione di sementi, visite esperienziali. Animali: bovini, conigli, pecore, galline, gatti, api, cani, cavalli Prodotti: pane, pasta madre, uova, miele, olio di oliva, conserve, vino, carne e derivati Ciao siamo una famiglia composta da me, Giuseppe,mia moglie Romina ed i nostri 3 figli . viviamo in fattoria nei pressi della Stazione di Vizzini (distante 60 km da Catania ), dove è situata la nostra fattoria. Ci occupiamo di Allevamento e agricoltura Biologica nei nostri campi. Il nostro sistema di allevamento è transumante , spostiamo la mandria nel corso dell'anno in altri campi in provincia di Enna. Insieme alla mia famiglia coltiviamo e alleviamo in biologico dal 1999. La fattoria è formata da 300 Ha in totale ubicati in due località diverse Catenanuova (Enna)e Vizzini (Catania). Le attività che vorremmo condividere con voi sono: la gestione dei pascoli e della mandria, dalla semina alla raccolta dei foraggi e del grano, la cura dell'orto, la trasformazione delle conserve. In azienda c'è sempre qualcuno, ma potrete passare dei momenti in cui sarà preferibile l'autogestione. I settori di lavoro sono molti e specifici, quindi spesso ci ritroveremo a lavorare in ambiti differenti ma nello stesso posto. Preferiamo dunque: spirito di adattamento, forza fisica e mentale, interesse nei confronti del vegetale e sensibilità nei confronti dell'animale. La nostra azienda è a ciclo chiuso, cioè all'interno dell'azienda si produce tutto, dai foraggi per gli animali alle sementi per i terreni, dal letame per l' arricchimento del suolo, al pascolo. Cerchiamo di essere autosufficienti e di evitare l'approvvigionamento da fonti esterne. Un'altra attività aziendale è la custodia e coltivazione di alcune varietà di grani antichi siciliani. Annessi all'azienda sono presenti agrumi ed ulivi, questi per piccole produzioni stagionali. Da qualche anno abbiamo aperto le porte al turismo esperienziale finalizzato alla diffusione della cultura del mangiare sano ed etico, così ospitiamo piccoli gruppi di persone (spesso straniere) in visita in azienda e spieghiamo loro la nostra attività agricola che rispetta il territorio e ne valorizza i prodotti. Ci ispiriamo a una forma di allevamento etico ed ecosostenibile e produciamo carni biologiche di alta qualità. In azienda lavorano circa 4 dipendenti, tra stabili e stagionali. C'è possibilità di ospitare i soci wwoofers offrendo un letto in camera condivisa o singola, c'è una abitazione indipendente con cucina e bagno. Siamo soci fondatori dell'associazione culturale SIMENZA che ha come elemento imprescindibile la cura e la preservazione della Biodiversità vegetale e animale. Certified Organic: Yes since 1999 SOIL AND HEALTH We make bread, sourdough, eggs, honey, olive oil, preserves, wine, meat and meat products Hello we are a family formed of myself, Giuseppe, my wife Romina and our 3 children. We live on a farm near Vizzini Station (60 km from Catania), where our farm is located. We do organic farming and cattle breeding in our fields. Our breeding method is transhumant, we move the herd throughout the year to more fields in the province of Enna. The farm is 300 ha in total located in two different places Catenanuova (Enna) and Vizzini (Catania). The activities that we would like to share with you are: pasture and herd management, from sowing to harvesting fodder and grain, looking after the vegetable garden, processing of preserves. There is always someone on the farm, but there are times when self-management is preferable. The range of work is numerous and specific, so we will often find ourselves working in different areas but in the same place. We therefore prefer: spirit of adaptation, physical and mental strength, interest in plants and sensitivity to animals. Our farm is closed-cycle, i.e. everything is produced on the farm, from fodder for the animals to seeds for the land, from manure for soil enrichment to grazing. We try to be self-sufficient and avoid provisioning from external sources. Another farm activity is the storage and cultivation of some varieties of ancient Sicilian grains. There are citrus and olive trees on the farm, these for small seasonal production. For the past few years we have opened our doors to experiential tourism aimed at spreading the knowledge of healthy and ethical eating, so we host small groups of people (often foreigners) visiting our farm and explain to them our farming methods that respect the land and enhance its products. We are inspired by an ethical and environmentally sustainable form of animal husbandry and produce high quality organic meat. About four employees work on the farm, including permanent and seasonal workers. We can accommodate wwoofers in a shared or single room, there is an independent dwelling with kitchen and bathroom. We are founding members of the cultural association SIMENZA, which focuses on the care and preservation of plant and animal biodiversity. We look forward to welcoming you to our company, and we will be happy to pick you up from the bus or train station in Catania or the Vizzini station. Musical instruments: guitars, violin, accordion and a Yamaha upright piano. We have internet and alexa. We can go cycling or walking around the countryside, canoeing at the Ticino river or the Po river, which are a few kilometres from our home.

Spending 2 weeks with Giussepe and his family on the farm was an incredible experience. Everyone on the farm is so nice, so friendly. Even though we didn't speak Italian we never felt left out. Giussepe always explained everything to us, about the work, the animals. In 2 weeks we learned so many new things, but I can say that 2 weeks is not enough :) if we could have stayed much longer.He also tried to involve us as much as possible in the farm's works, but also in the family. Staying on the farm gave us so much, opened our minds, new experiences, friendships, Guissepe does his work with incredible passion and it's wonderful to watch. Even when we were tired the days on the farm gave us back our energy tremendously. The whole place and people there, they are just amazing. I think we left a piece of our heart in this place.

This isn’t a place suited for English speakers, this was my first visit to Italy in ten years (my Italian was rusty) and not much patience was shown. I felt excluded and I left early with an Italian wwoofer (who also left early). The host was distanced, we usually worked alone, not a good place for an intimate experience. As he is new, I hope he continues to learn and improve as a host. On a positive note, this is a good place for learning about cattle and it's a proper farm and large ranch with all different kinds of animals. You’ll have plenty to do.

Ethan was with us for a week, immediately declaring that he wanted to learn mainly the Sicilian dialect, then interacting with the workers and the family as little as possible. Our farm is large and, as written in our description, it can happen that you have to work alone. Ethan shared an independent house with the other wwoofers without collaborating in the order or cleaning of the house, resulting in complaints from those who lived there. He did not respect some basic rules of coexistence and of the company, leaving a debt of over ten euros towards a worker, allowing himself to take a case of beer from the cold room of our property without asking any of the managers and without ever apologize. Ethan has never shown any particular interest in the company's activities.

Questa esperienza da Giuseppe era un mese di felicità . E sempre interessante di incontrare la gente ma a volte ci sono delle persone che ti fanno vedere loro bellezza , quella che viene del cuore . Da Giuseppe tutto e bello il paesaggio, gli animali , i fiori ,il lavoro .

Sicuramente qualcosa che non dimentichi.. in un pezzo di paradiso, dove ci si ricorda che si è, in primis, anime animali. Osserva attentamente, ascolta profondamente , gestisci e gestisciti.. il lavoro non mancherà mai.. tanto quanto le risate, le fatiche e i grandi insegnamenti. Vai via da qui con un altro cuore, e penso questo basti e avanzi. Grazie.
