Casa familiare e giardino - rurale, Frutteto, Fattoria di famiglia, Produzione ortaggi, Olivi
Campobasso
Metodi organici: consociazioni erbacee e arboree, siepi pluristratificate, lotta biologica conservativa e inoculativa, pacciamatura, no tillage su oliveti, sovesci di leguminose e brassicacee

Accesso a Internet disponibile

At the age of 8, I returned with my family to Larino (CB), my father's town. My mother, on the other hand, comes from Switzerland. Both my parents passed on a passion for nature and good food to me as a child. As soon as we came back, we chose to live in the countryside, surrounded by olive and oak trees, taking care of a centuries-old olive grove and a vegetable garden in our spare time. I grew up in this environment and matured my beliefs about life. Last year, in the midst of the pandemic, I bought more land, with the intention of structuring a farm for the production of both excellent extra virgin olive oil and related services, such as ecosystem services and the organisation of events, excursions, tourist activities and itineraries in the area that immerse visitors in the authenticity of our area.
I joined WWOOF with the aim of passing on my knowledge and forging friendships with those who want to reconnect with the land. I would like to help those who have the same goals as me. Today I am 26 years old and I hope to be able to contribute with my activity first of all to the rebirth of my area, which has various problems such as depopulation, and at the same time to spread the culture of farming in a healthy way and to recognise the quality of what we eat.
Organic methods: herb and tree associations, multi-layered hedges, conservative and inoculative biological control, mulching, no-tillage on olive groves, green manure of legumes and brassicas
Activities and projects:
Recovery and all-round management of centuries-old olive groves
Construction of synergy system for fruit and vegetable production
Recovery of ancient vegetable and fruit varieties
Preparation of a herbarium and insectarium with species present on the farm
Mapping of trekking and e-bike routes in the area
Expansion of the apiary
Creation of a farm carbon meter
Cultural activities and events in the area to strengthen territorial identity
Research and use of wild edible plants, fruits and mushrooms

My friend and I stayed 10 days at Oro Frentano with Angelo, his family, and their cats. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. Since it was summer, we would work early in the morning and sometimes complete some work later in the afternoon. We had the afternoon and evening to explore the surroundings of the farm. The work wasn’t always easy, and the heat added to the difficulty, but we could usually contact Angelo if we had a question, either in person or through WhatsApp.
The bedroom was very comfortable, and you had your own bathroom. Meals were shared with the family, and those moments were always interesting and pleasant. The family made us feel welcome and was interested in engaging with us. They also suggested activities during the day or evening and offered to drive us, which was very appreciated since the transport system isn’t always accommodating. The only issue was the language barrier, which was a bit more significant than anticipated. We always managed to make ourselves understood and understand others, but the conversation was not always fluid.
During our stay, we visited a few villages around and also went to the beach. Again, you need to be prepared for transportation issues if you don’t have a car, as it sometimes felt like a puzzle.
Finally, we were blessed with traditional food that tasted really good which made our stay even better!

This was my first experience WWOOFing and it was honestly a fantastic stay with Angelo and his family. I was there for 4 weeks in the summer, and they were all incredibly welcoming. His parents are very sweet and I felt like I got a really genuine Italian experience. You get your own room with a separate bedroom, which is very nice. I would just make sure you clearly communicate your work hours with Angelo in advance or on your first few days, so you aren't being overworked (like 8hr days). But once we talked to him about that, we were on a pretty typical WWOOF working schedule. Otherwise it was great, and the food was deliciously homemade!

My first experience as a wwoofer and definitely a life-changing one!
Work can be hard if, like me, you're not used to it, and some tasks can be kind of boring sometimes. But the contact with nature and with the local community is 100% authentic, no filters, no romanticism, just real life.
And the warmth of the family will pay you back for all your efforts! They are true people, proud of their background and willing to share it with visitors. They cooked traditional and delicious food all the time to let me try it, I could fit in their routine very easily and felt really at home.
Thank you! I hope I'll be able to visit you soon!

My first time wwoofing and it was a great experience. From day one I felt completely comfortable and integrated into the family. The family is so welcoming and another very nice wwoofer was there. I helped with the olive harvest and learned a lot about olives and oil production. The olive oil is molto buono. There was always very tasty food (Italian dishes/lots of pasta/vegetarian for me) and we ate together. We often cooked or baked together. Of course there was a lot of work, but we still made nice trips. I was even taken to a birthday party. But what I have to say is that I had to keep an eye on my working hours myself, otherwise more help is readily accepted.
