The Light House With Mandali Retreat Center, is a point of light on our ever changing planet, for those interested in being part of something wonderful if not just for a short period. we work on 3 acres land surrounding a 5 bedroom house, where the woofers will stay. This is our fourth year hosting and starting to get the hang of it ;) Woofers will join us on a journey to better understand this life, experiencing together first hand the patterns it has, in order to then implement them into our own lives and with each other, practically and spiritually. Together we will work on maintaining existing projects and helping create together new ones, an ideal opportunity for passionate people to express themselves. All food is Vegetarian and provided by us. This area is ideal for nature lovers: there are plenty of hikes on the mountain or swimming in the lake . The language used in the house is English ish.

My time at the Mandali lighthouse was amazing! From the way of welcoming me & the other two wwoofers with eating chestnuts directly from an open fire to our goodbye with a circle of gratitude. I stayed there in October and we were only 3 in the enormous house. The work was divided over two locations: the lighthouse & the Mandali retreat. Around the lighthouse we worked mainly in the garden, working further on their future plans. We digged a lot and we created terraces for the food forest. We started at 9.30 and finished around 3.30-4pm. Lisa & George are like yin & yang, forming the perfect balance. I learnt a lot, not only about permaculture but also on a personal level. Lisa showed us how to make bread, yoghurt, fresh pasta, etc. and her mum gave us a little workshop about making soap. We were invited into their lives which made me feel at home quickly. The work at the Mandali retreat was also really nice & we got treated like colleagues directly. Everyone there was so friendly & willing to help. As this was my first Wwoof experience I can't compare to other projects, but I highly recommend this amazing place & project! Oh, to the future wwoofers: if you wonder who made that huge painting in the bedroom.. that would be me!!

It’s hard to put into words the incredible experience I had at the Lighthouse. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I had come home. I learned so much through working with Lisa and George, who are some of the warmest people I’ve met. Of course, I learned about the practical methods of permaculture, but I also learned about permaculture as a lifestyle and philosophy. It was truly touching to be welcomed into Lisa and George’s family, including getting to know their wonderful sons, Diego and Dylan. Finally, the connections formed through living amongst the other WWOOFERs was deeply fulfilling. I am grateful for every minute.

I have had an amazing time at the Ligthouse. Its been a few months since I have been, but I still cherish this experience and its life lessons on a daily basis. Lisa and George are people with true wisdom who you learn from by doing. Our conversations showed me different perspectives to life, and it has been inspiring to see how they navigate complex situations free of judgement and with an open heart. Learning about permaculture revealed new layers to life for me, and I believe this can be beautiful and important to learn for anyone in these restless times. It has also been an enriching experience to be at the Mandali centre and to meet so many wonderful people. It was my first wwoofing experience and exceeded all my expectations. So, if you are in doubt about going, and you are reading reviews as I was at the time, I would encourage you to definitely give the experience a try :)

The lighthouse project has been more than welcoming and accommodating to us wwoofers. There's a big sense of freedom in the house where the wwoofers stay, where we make meals, clean and play games together. The work has been varied, as some days are spent at the retreat center, gardening, composting and doing odd jobs, and some at the lighthouse, building whatever current project there is and taking care of the permaculture garden. Lisa and George, the hosts, have created this beautiful open atmosphere where you feel valued and appreciated. They love to explain about permaculture and are always open to hear your thoughts on how to do projects and jobs. They encourage creative initiatives and hold space for you to express yourself. The place itself is quite isolated in the mountains, but if you get along with your fellow wwoofers, that won't be a problem at all! Not to mention there are beautiful walks in every direction, waiting for you to explore. Overall, a great place to stay!

If you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to spend time at The Lighthouse Project with Lisa and George, do not pass it up. I feel so grateful to have been able to spend a month here, in one of the most beautiful areas of the world, surrounded by the kindest, most intelligent, and interesting people you can imagine. Any attempt I make to describe the day-to-day experience will fall short of capturing what this place truly offers, so I hope you can trust that pursuing this WWOOF opportunity can only result in an incredible experience. The living situation is extremely comfortable, providing everything you need for a pleasant stay. You have access to bikes to explore the surrounding area, which provides hiking and biking trails and nearby lakes. The food provided on the days you work at Mandali was also a highlight. Beyond the practical comforts, what makes this experience truly special is the sense of community and connection you'll find here. Lisa and George have created something remarkable, and being part of it, even temporarily, is genuinely transformative. I cannot recommend this WWOOF opportunity highly enough. If you're considering it, take the leap – you won't regret it.

I‘ve spend 2 weeks at Lighthouse with georg and lisa and would definetly recommend a stay here!!! Georg and Lisa are the nicest people on earth and really dedicated to thier work. My First week I spend working at the Lighthouse helping with gardening and builing a new fence. In my second week we then moved to the mandali and did mostly gardening and weeding around the area. The work was never too hard, from time to time even a bit too easy:) and the food we got from mandali made it a even better expirience. All in all I can say that it was a really rewarding time and I’m looking forward to coming back again one day! Thank you Georg and Lisa!!! (And also best wishes to Diego and Dylan)
