I consider my time spent managing the vineyards and the land as a form of work. Beyond inspiration, there is hard work, dedication and craftsmanship. Work, yes, but passionate and of excellence, the only work that can achieve the sublime. I want to bring the beauty of the vines into the wine, because beauty is an order or an accord in such a way that nothing can be changed except for the worse... My wife and I, my son Aidan (university student), Frida (Corsican dog), Mia (Labrador dog) live on a 10-hectare farm with 6 hectares of organic vines in the hills of Castelvetro di Modena. We also have 10 beehives to help with biodiversity and for the production of Mulsum, a wine where we use honey and the work of my bee friends for the second fermentation. This first year we will start with the grape harvest and the first winemaking activities. It is our intention to share the 365 days of life (freedom) in the vineyard; to pass on the peculiarities of the vine and its quest for balance by always discovering new things WWOOFers eat with our family and help with the clearing up, each one will have a room for sleeping, there is no shortage of space. In the mornings they participate in activities in the vineyard and/or cellar, in the afternoons they decide what they want to do. I love music and beauty, because from beauty comes goodness. I love pizza and good food. We are at the start of the main Modena hiking trails towards the hills, and within a 10 km radius there are swimming pools, cinemas, horses, etc. etc. We also have a 1 ha pond where, if you are able to swim, you can swim

I had an amazing time at Bioss. Nonna is incredibly kind and her cooking is great, Eric and Aidan are inclusive and fun. I liked the castles and towns nearby, there's plenty to explore. This was my first time wwoofing and I definitely want to try more because of it.

This was my first wwoofing experience and from the moment I arrived, everyone made me feel incredibly welcome. The Gianaroli family are genuinely some of the kindest, most generous, and patient people I've ever met. Nonna is absolutely wonderful, it was such a privilege to enjoy her delicious meals and experience the warmth and care she showed every day. Every meal was filled with great conversations and lots of laughter. Aidan is an excellent teacher, and I learned so much about vineyard work and winemaking during my stay. The communication was always clear, the work in the vineyard was very reasonable, and the working conditions were great. There was plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Aidan and Eric always included us in their activities. From movie nights on the porch to trips to the river and attending wine events together, they made us feel like part of the family. Although my stay was only a week, I'm incredibly grateful for this experience and for the opportunity to meet such an amazing family. I left with new skills and wonderful memories I'll always cherish. Thank you for hosting me! Take Care, Bekah

Rebekah came to us right after finishing her studies in marine biology in Croatia. She also has a background in geology and natural sciences, and from day one it was clear she would bring care and attention to the vineyard. Unfortunately, she stayed with us for only one week, but she fit in incredibly quickly and became a great addition to our family and our green pruning group in the vineyards! Around the lunch and dinner table, you could tell she was raised to be very polite. At first she kept a bit to herself and carried herself in a composed, almost formal way, but she was always attentive, listening, and ready to join in. And with just a few more days of eating, she started jumping into the jokes and showing more of her personality, which was really nice :) She was also the first wwoofer we’ve had who came prepared with a sun shirt instead of relying on sunscreen, which turned out to be a very smart choice given how hot this June 2026 has been. In the hope that one day we’ll meet again in Maine, we wish you all the best!

Emma is young but very diligent and hardworking. She’s attentive to detail and quite meticulous in everything she does, and these qualities really stood out during her green pruning days in our vineyards. She’s also been working since she was a teenager, which clearly shows in her attitude and reliability. She’s a climber, so she’s used to high-risk situations, which makes her very cautious and aware of what she’s doing. She came to stay with us during her six-month solo trip around Europe, solo-traveling in her van, and it was a real pleasure having her here. She slept in her van, which also made things easier for us in terms of room management. Her and her very nice white van are welcome to come back whenever they want!! Doei doei!!!!

A wonderful stay with a wonderful family :) This was my very first wwoofingexperience and it was better than I could ever have wished for, and I'm afraid they have set the bar too high for other places haha. Everyone is so genuine, welcoming and interested in you, that it feels like you're allowed to be a part of their family for a few weeks :). They are very communicative and the "working"hours and -conditions were very reasonable. I also liked that Filippo, Aidan and Eric were more than happy to explain the details about the vineyard and the winemaking, aaand that I got to try their beautiful wines!! If you're not working, there is so much room for relaxing or doing things around the house, and in the weekends we went on the most amazing trips into the nature. Nonna has stolen a piece of my heart with not only her cooking, but also her caring. Truly, these people are really precious and it has been nothing less than an honour to have been living with them for a few weeks! A time to never forget :). With love, Emma

Emma is a special “lawyer-to-be” from Leiden, Netherlands. She’s determined and not afraid to challenge herself. Even though she didn’t have much countryside experience, she really threw herself out of her comfort zone coming to work in our vineyards. Despite that, she was absolutely fantastic at work. You could see she genuinely cared about doing a good job, spending long hours under the sun working hard on green pruning. She never backed down from vineyard tasks and even helped out extra hours on weekends. She was also a pleasure to have around at lunch and dinner, always happy to join in on our jokes and conversations. And to be fair, it was hard not to tease her — being a "as white as the fridge" pastor’s daughter made it just too easy :) Emma is open to new challenges and always up for interesting discussions. She has no problem talking with anyone, even when the conclusion is simply agreeing to disagree. We truly hope to see Emma again one day and wish her all the best. Thank you for everything, Emma!

I can’t remember how many times during my stay I told myself how lucky I was to be there. I loved every part of it, the vineyard, the work, Nonna’s house, my cozy room, the mountain house where we stayed during climbing trips, the nearby towns, and above all, the people and their sense of humor. Gianaroli family is incredibly kind and took such good care of everyone who passed through. Aidan and Eric are communicative, well organized, and very sweet, and they always invited me along to their activities. Nonna always made sure everyone was well fed and cared for, which made the place feel even more like home. I laughed a lot, ate incredibly well, learned about green pruning, winemaking, and saw how much care and passion goes into every detail of their work. I’m leaving with new friends, a place I’ll always remember fondly, and memories I know I’ll share with many people. Thanks Gianaroli family for your hospitality, kindness, humor, and care. Take care!

Tram is adaptable and hardworking and has a big heart. She has a wonderful sense of humor and always has a joke up her sleeve. You never know when she's gonna catch you. During her time with us, she shared her culture in a very special way, cooking a delicious Vietnamese meal and bringing a warm, affectionate energy into our home. She quickly became part of the family, and we're gonna miss her presence a lot. We are very grateful for her help and will genuinely miss both her company and her positive attitude.

I spent twenty wonderful days at Biòss with the most amazing family. This was my first WWOOFing experience, and I was a little nervous at first, but the Gianarolis were incredibly warm and welcoming. Staying here truly felt like being part of their home. Aidan and Eric were so kind and patient, answering all my questions about winemaking and teaching us so much about the entire process. I loved getting hands-on experience during the harvest: picking the grapes and seeing how all their care, passion and patience that goes into the vineyard translates into the final wine. They included us in all their beautifully cinematic plans—trips to the river, visits to the mountain house, and cozy movie nights—making every day feel special. The highlights for me were lunch and dinner, all lovingly prepared by Nonna, a truly remarkable woman and cook. Every meal was a joy, accompanied by incredible conversations and laughter. I am deeply grateful for this experience and would wholeheartedly recommend Biòss to anyone looking for a peaceful, memorable, and heartfelt stay!
