Azienda Agricola biologica di olive da tavole ed olio evo

Siamo Giovanni e Eleonora, abbiamo due figlie di 10 e 11 anni. Viviamo dentro un uliveto biologico, siamo attualmente impiegati.
Io in ufficio ed Eleonora insegna, ma gestiamo l'azienda agricola che da più di 100 anni è della mia famiglia.
Ospiterò gli amici wwofer in una stanza da letto con bagno dotate di acqua calda ed una stufa a legna .
D'estate il lavoro inizia la mattina presto e poi si riprende la sera dopo le 5 pm, altrimenti nelle stagioni più fresche si lavora mattina. Si lavora circa circa 5 ore al giorno.
Ad ottobre posso ospitare anche 4 settimane perché siamo in piena raccolta olive e si può lavorare anche 8 ore al giorno, facendo diverse attività (cucinare, raccogliere, separare olive verdi da nere, stare sul campo per controllare i lavoro degli operai, andare all'oleificio, conservare l'olio,etc, etc)

We are Giovanni and Eleonora, we have two daughters aged 10 and 11. We live in an organic olive grove, we are currently employed.
I am in the office and Eleonora teaches, but we manage the farm that has been in my family for over 100 years.
I will host wwofer friends in a bedroom with bathroom equipped with hot water and a wood stove.
In the summer, work starts early in the morning and then resumes in the evening after 5 pm, otherwise in the cooler seasons we work in the morning. We work about 5 hours a day.
In October I can also host 4 weeks because we are in full olive harvest and you can work even 8 hours a day, doing different activities (cooking, harvesting, separating green olives from black ones, being in the field to supervise the workers' work, going to the oil mill, storing the oil, etc, etc)

We stayed for ten days at Giovannis and his friendly family. We worked mainly on our own and painted some huts and cleared the garden from weed. We had a room with our own bathroom which was basic but fine. Giovanni provided breakfast for us and in the evenings we ate together and helped washing the dishes. We learned about sicilian culture, food and olives. We got many recommendations for the region from Eleonora and Giovanni. It was a interesting experience for us. Thank you for having us, dear Giovanni.

Our two weeks spent with Giovanni, Eleonora and the girls were one of our best WWOOF experiences. Giovanni is a person with an open heart and mind, and we truly appreciate the time we spent together. We talked a lot – about work, nature, history, culture, and everyday life. The work was meaningful; in January, it mainly revolved around the citrus harvest, but we also helped out with various small tasks around the house. The farm is set in the middle of orange and olive groves, yet close to many interesting destinations. In free time we took trips (using our own car or bikes) to explore the surroundings recommended by Giovanni. He has a deep connection to the place where he lives.
The whole time, we felt like part of the family, and we would definitely love to come back in the future to see how the new projects are coming along.

Première expérience de woofing, et je n’aurais vraiment pas pu rêver mieux. Dès mon arrivée, Giovanni et sa famille m’ont accueilli chaleureusement. Ne parlant pas italien, nous communiquions en anglais, ce qui n’a jamais été un frein. J’ai rapidement eu l’occasion de faire réellement leur connaissance, notamment lors des repas partagés, qui m’ont permis de me sentir très vite à l’aise.
Ils m’ont inclus dans leur quotidien, à travers des jeux et des événements entre amis, rendant l’expérience très humaine et authentique. Côté repas, je n’ai jamais manqué de rien et j’ai découvert une grande variété de pâtes, toutes délicieuses.
Le logement était simple mais suffisant : j’avais ma propre chambre et ma salle de bain, ce qui était très appréciable. Giovanni est une personne passionnée et bienveillante, qui a pris le temps de m’expliquer son activité et sa vision, donnant beaucoup de sens au travail réalisé.
Dès le premier jour, j’ai mis les mains à la pâte. Les tâches étaient variées, formatrices, et je me suis senti utile tout au long du séjour. Le rythme de travail était bien équilibré avec les temps de repos.
Le lieu est un peu éloigné des grandes villes, mais Giovanni s’est toujours rendu disponible pour les trajets en bus ou en train. Des vélos sont aussi mis à disposition pour aller aux magasins ou à la plage toute proche.

È stato un piacere trascorrere questa settimana con i gentili proprietari, ringrazio Giovanni per la sua capacità di trasmettere le sue conoscenze sulla regione e sulla cultura delle olive. Il luogo è tranquillo e stimolante e la famiglia è molto premurosa. Siamo riusciti a trascorrere dei bei momenti e a conoscerci meglio anche se il mio livello di italiano è piuttosto limitato. Tornerò volentieri per dare una mano e trascorrere del tempo alla Casa Gentile :)

Circa dieci giorni con Giovanni, Eleonora e le ragazze! Ho zappato molto, ma almeno ora le mie braccia sono ancora più toniche ! Ahah :)
Ho potuto partecipare alle attività di famiglia : spiagge, pizzeria, aperetivo bordo piscina!
Il lavoro è o al mattino o al pomeriggio. Questo mi ha lasciato del tempo libero per dipingere! Ho anche potuto visitare il piccolo borgo di Castelvetrano e incontrare un'altra Woofer, Carla, purtroppo solo per una breve giornata insieme.

Giovanni and his family are very kind and generous people. We really enjoyed our time working in the olive groves and sharing meals together. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Sicilian experience.
