Mi chiamo Valeria, vivo in campagna insieme a mio marito Simone e ai miei cagnoloni: Lotto, Lillo, Diego, Zara, Raja e Strella. ---o----o-----0-----o----o--- My name is Valeria, I live in the countryside with my husband Simone and my big dogs: Lotto, Lillo, Diego, Zara, Raja and Strella. In 2019 I moved to my grandfather's old country house and farm, which I renovated and slowly started the process of transformation from a conventional farm to an organic farm and am slowly replacing some monocultures with consociated plants, and starting a process of agroforestry. I am a member of the Sicilian LeGallineFelici Consortium, that has a vision in which I reflect myself very much: A world in which women farmers and farmers, women workers and workers, female consumers and consumers, create, maintain and promote happy relationships. I have also recently finished renovations on part of the farm buildings that will be converted to a retail shop and room for education and tastings. I run the farm organically and practice minimum tillage for soil management. I am making a stormwater storage tank and new arboricultural installations. The next project is an educational vineyard, so I will have the pleasure of sharing my knowledge about the world of sustainable viticulture. WWOOFers will be guests in our house, they will have a room for their own use (maximum two people, double bed though!) or in good weather we can also set up tents and the big tipì tent in the garden and under the olive trees, we have a pitch available for campers as well (with power outlet, direct water connection and drainage of grey water only). Meals will be prepared together in the kitchen and are mainly traditional Sicilian vegetarian dishes. I love board games very much; you will find about 50 of them in the house for all to enjoy! There is a fantastic sea nearby (we are located at the southernmost tip of the Sicilian east coast (Punta Cirica, Marina Marza, Granelli) and only 20 minutes from the Vendicari Oriented Nature Reserve and 5 minutes from Pantano Cuba and Pantano Longarini where you can go birdwatching!

27 June–12 July 2026 ❤️ Our first WWOOFing experience at Netum Farm, Ispica, was one the three of us will never forget. Early mornings harvesting lavender, sage and oregano before the Sicilian heat, then back out in the evenings. We dug around orange trees, cracked almonds, learned about wine making, distilling herbs into essential oils and making natural soap. Muireann loved the distilling, while Adhamh’s favourite “job” was playing with Zara, Raja, Strella, Diago and Lotto! We relaxed in the hammock, listened to the cicadas and crickets, helped at farm events with jazz, dancing, amazing food, Netum’s wine and my favourite… pane e olio with fresh bread, olive oil, salt and oregano. Chatting with Valeria about Netum and Le Galline Felici was inspiring—a community of farming families caring for the land and each other. Valeria & Simone, thank you for welcoming us like family, for every chat, everything you taught us and for sharing your beautiful way of life. We leave with amazing friendships, unforgettable memories and lessons we’ll carry forever. This isn’t goodbye… we’ll be back. Go raibh míle maith agaibh. Slán go fóill. ❤️🌿🇮🇪

Henry David Thoreau

My experience with Valeria was absolutely wonderful. It was the first time doing Wwoofing for me and I have to say, it exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived I felt part of the wwoofing family, which included the hosts. We all shared together the two main meals of the day in a very relaxed and fun environtment. As each wwoofer volunteered to cook at different times and in different days, we explored exquisit culinary diversity. We chatted, laughed, played music, danced and played board games, making our stay a really varied experience. Valeria is an excellent host who shares her passion for Sustainable methos of cultivation. Her knowledge and wisdom in this area is very impressive and the passion with which she shares her goals is contagious. Working with Valeria is easy as she puts her trust in you and manages the work in a very professional and organized way, explaining each task very clearly. She makes it very easy to relate to her as a friend. Part of the experience involved visits to the beach, to life music events, restaurants and in general, it was obvious that Valeria understood wwoofing is not only about work, but about human connections and sharing experiences together. I totally recommend Wwoofing with Valeria. If you choose this one, you are in good hands. Thank you so muc for making us feel so welcome.

Such a beautiful farm, calm and only a short drive to the beach. Valeria is extremely passionate and welcoming and the work is diverse and interesting. The five dogs on the farm I miss already. Would definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for either short or long term organic farm volunteering.

I had a wonderful experience staying at Netum. Most of my work consisted of weeding around the avocado trees. I started early, around 5am, and usually finished by 10am. I really enjoyed this schedule because it left plenty of time to relax, explore the area, go to the beach, and enjoy the slower rhythm of life. The day lasts more than 24 hours there ♥️ The food was fantastic. We cooked a lot together, and I still think Valeria’s almonds were the best I’ve ever tasted. The fresh orange juice every morning was also a highlight. The social aspect was another thing I loved. During my stay there were events, dance classes, and many opportunities to meet people. The other WWOOFers were great company, and we shared many fun moments together. I even brought my saxophone and had plenty of time to practice, which made the experience even more special for me. And of course, I cannot finish this review without mentioning Loto, the dog. He is incredibly smart, full of personality, and seems to have an infinite battery for playing and adventures. He quickly became everyone’s favorite companion. Valeria was always kind, welcoming, flexible, and open. She created an environment where people could feel comfortable and at home. I am very grateful for the experience and would happily recommend this host to other WWOOFers.

I stayed on Valeria’s farm for about five weeks and had an absolutely wonderful time! Everything - the people, the dogs, the work, and the surroundings - felt just right for me. Valeria is one of the kindest and most warm-hearted people I have ever met. She not only gave us WWOOFers plenty of time off to explore the area, but also included us in events and genuinely enjoyed spending time together, which we all appreciated. During my stay, the work mainly involved weeding in the avocado and vineyard fields, along with some pruning. It was meaningful and rewarding, and the atmosphere made it even more enjoyable. Leaving was truly hard. Thank you so much for everything! ❤️
