We are located in Torrazza di Sant’Olcese, just outside the city of Genoa, and we are a newly established farm dreaming of becoming a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). We are four long-time friends (Diego, Gregorio, Lucia, and Riccardo) who live between the city center and the farm, where we also share a lively household.
Our project focuses on growing and delivering mixed seasonal fruit and vegetable boxes to the city. Alongside the farming activities, we also organize community-building events to foster culture and social life.
Our farming work mainly revolves around caring for and maintaining the vegetable garden (sowing, transplanting, weeding, pruning, harvesting...), where we practice regenerative agriculture techniques. We love to experiment, and as we're just starting out, we know we still have a lot to learn—and a lot to get wrong.
We cultivate about 1000 square meters using bio-intensive/market garden methods with permanent beds.
Beyond the garden, our other activities include caring for chickens and bees, maintaining fences and uncultivated areas, and harvesting and preserving fruit and garden surpluses for family use.
Next to the fields, we rent a house where we can host WWOOFers. We offer a private room, but meals, common spaces, and the (single) bathroom are shared.
The four of us also have a place in downtown Genoa, so our presence at the farm varies throughout the week. In winter, it may happen more often than in summer that WWOOFers are alone. Generally, we're around every day (except Mondays) to work in the fields and share the day, but on some evenings WWOOFers may need to prepare dinner on their own. The kitchen and everything in it is always open and available.
Those who come visit us will find a young and lively environment. Friends often drop by, and we love organizing dinners and the occasional party.
About once a month, we organize community workdays in the garden with our customers. Between spring and autumn, we also host events through our non-profit association (APS), which runs alongside the farm to help build community and bring culture and social life back into rural areas.
Meals are mostly vegetarian and prepared together using ingredients from the garden, though we are open to all kinds of diets. We ask WWOOFers to be willing to share time and space as part of our small community, where everyone takes care of one another.
The farm is well connected to Genoa by both public buses and a historic little train. The city center can also be reached on foot in about 2 hours.
In Genoa (about 30 minutes by car, 45 by public transport), you can enjoy various tourist activities or go for a swim in the sea.
In Torrazza and nearby villages, there are several local festivals and fairs in the summer. Not far from the farm, you'll find the Genoa city walls park, which is the starting point for many hiking trails.
We ask WWOOFers to stay with us for at least 2 weeks to really get into the flow of things and have a positive experience together. In winter, we prefer longer stays—about a month.
🇵🇸 We openly support the Palestinian cause. 🇵🇸
