Ciao sono Anna Maria (1954) e vivo col mio compagno Leonardo (_____),in una città scavata dai cavatori, al di sotto del piano di campagna . Si , viviamo dentro vaste aree di cave che ,con un lavoro iniziato circa 19 anni fa, abbiamo riqualificato e vi abbiamo creato la nostra azienda agricola e la nostra casa. Non siamo giovani siamo settantenni ma abbiamo tanta voglia di continuare a creare e valorizzare questi luoghi stupendi. Ci troviamo in zona periferica alla città di Marsala ( Sicilia) , in una zona remota circondati dalla natura d' apprezzare per i suoi suoni e per i suoi frutti spontanei. Abbiamo 4 cani che ci fanno compagnia ma sono anche le nostre sentinelle. La bellezza del luogo e il significato culturale che rappresenta sono stati elementi trainanti per attirare turisti dal mondo. Il PARCO DELLE CAVE DI MARSALA oltre ad essere la nostra azienda agricola è anche un polo di attrazione turistica.
Leonardo ed io coltiviamo funghi cardoncelli ( tipici di questo luogo col nome di funghi di ferula...pianta che cresce nei nostri terreni ma noi li coltiviamo in substrati incubati che vengono posizionati nei luoghi più adatti al loro habitat) . Quando abbiamo comprato queste cave , erano terreni aridi e privi di piante ma a poco a poco la natura si è rinsediata regalandoci vari tipi di piante aromatiche spontanee come il timo, l' elicriso ,i capperi, il finocchietto s elvatico , la valeriana rossa. Il nostro progetto è quello di essiccare e lavorare le piante spontanee, continuare la coltivazione dei funghi per distribuirli ai fruttivendoli della zona sia freschi che essiccati. Una parte della proprietà è coltivata a fichidindia e fichi , questi ultimi saranno venduti pure freschi o essiccati.. Un woofer potrebbe seguirci nell' intero svolgimento del lavoro descritto che comporta anche il mantenimento del terreno pulito in determinate aree con l' uso della zappa per estirpare le piante non officinali.
Dispongo di due piccole strutture distanti circa 20 metri l' uno dall' altra: una utilizzata per camera da letto per coppia e l' altra per doccia- wc.....In più la vastita degli spazi all' aperto offre possibilità di pernottare in tenda ( una nuova la posso fornire io stessa) o in camper. Separatamente c'è una struttura in legno che utilizzo per cucina pranzo ( con frigo e piano cottura). Anche io uso saltuariamente questa cucina e con piacere farei i pasti con gli ospiti).
Io ho l' hobby di qualche lavoro di falegnameria e riutilizzo delle cose messe da parte. Ho per esempio degli archi in ferro per serre ,che vorrei utilizzare come tende per la notte ....so come farlo ... inizierò quando avrò aiuto. Nelle vicinanze c'è un kartodromo, possibilità di escursioni nelle sciare....non siamo lontani dal mare ..10 minuti di macchina. Per chi non ha un mezzo di trasporto, possiamo accompagnarvi alla più vicina fermata di autobus ( le corse non sono frequenti ) o fornirvi una bicicletta. Anche se siamo in una contrada, ci sono vicini supermercati, fruttivendolo, tabaccaio.

Hi, I’m Anna Maria (1954), and I live with my partner Leonardo (_____) in a town carved out by quarry miners, below the surrounding countryside. Yes, we live within vast quarry grounds that—through work we began about 19 years ago—we’ve redeveloped to create our farm and our home. We’re not young—we’re in our seventies—but we’re eager to keep creating and enhancing these beautiful places.
We are located on the outskirts of the city of Marsala (Sicily), in a fairly isolated area surrounded by natural beauty that is appreciated for its sounds and wild fruits. We have four dogs that keep us company but also serve as our watchdogs. The beauty of the place and its cultural significance have been key factors in attracting tourists from around the world. The PARCO DELLE CAVE DI MARSALA is not only our farm but also a major tourist attraction.
Leonardo and I grow cardoncelli mushrooms (known locally as “funghi di ferula”—a plant that grows on our land, but we cultivate them in incubated beds placed in locations best suited to their habitat). When we bought these quarries, the land was arid and devoid of vegetation, but little by little nature has reclaimed the area, gifting us with various types of wild aromatic plants such as thyme, helichrysum, capers, wild fennel, and red valerian. Our plan is to dry and process the wild plants and continue cultivating mushrooms to distribute them to local produce vendors, both fresh and dried. Part of the property is planted with prickly pears and figs; the figs will also be sold fresh or dried. A WWOOFer could assist us with all the work described, which also involves keeping the ground clear in certain areas by using a hoe to remove non-medicinal plants.
I have two small structures about 20 meters apart: one is used as a bedroom for a couple, and the other as a shower and restroom.....In addition, the spacious outdoor area offers the option of staying overnight in a tent (I can provide a new one myself) or in a RV camper. Separately, there’s a wooden structure that I use as a kitchen and dining area (with a fridge and stovetop). I also use this kitchen occasionally and would be happy to cook meals with guests.
My hobby is doing some woodworking and repurposing things that have been set aside. For example, I have some iron arcs from greenhouses that I’d like to use as curtains for the night.... I know how to do it… I’ll get started once I have some help. Nearby, there’s a go-kart track, and opportunities for skiing excursions… we’re not far from the ocean—just a 10-minute drive.
For those without transportation, we can take you to the nearest bus stop (buses don't run very often) or provide you with a bicycle. Even though we're in a rural area, there are supermarkets, a produce stand, and a tobacco shop nearby.
