We are a couple, Bernarda, 47, and Andrej, 53, and daughters Neza (1988) and Lucija (1990).
Ours is a long-established farm: located on the Karst plateau in Sagrado (Trieste), our family has been working it for over a century conserving ancient methods of cultivation and food processing, methods we now call "organic" but that for us they are simply "natural" because we believe and operate following laws and rhythms of nature. Except for a few elements that we do not produce (like oil) we produce everything ourselves. We have a farm restaurant with up to 80 places and 5 rooms for hospitality.
The farm covers 50 hectares of which we work directly with a group of collaborators. Travelers can participate in the cultivation of vegetables, the care and grazing of our cattle, pigs and other farm animals. With us you can learn the old art of harvesting and processing wild herbs and you can see how we make our sausages, in a unique and special way using ancient recipes according to the tradition of the family and we do not use preservatives. If you happen to be interested we can teach you how to cook Slovenian, Italian and Austrian dishes.
In our cellar we produce our own wine using micorizze, we also try to safeguard ancient varieties of vegetables and fruit.
We would like to share our life and work experience with fellow travelers from all over the world: we speak Italian, English, German, Slovenian and Croatian. We ask for a period of stay of at least 2 weeks. Accommodation is in the house with us, and all meals will be shared.
