Roma

We are two women, Diana and Federica of 39, and after having meditated for a long time we have decided to change our way of life, moving from Rome centre to a beautiful rural area north of Rome, in the Marcigliana Natural Reserve. In the countryside we are building our association, which deals with psycho-physical well-being through the integration of different disciplines. We propose stimulating activities that aim to make us be good with ourselves, with others and with the surrounding environment. For about a year now we are working to create a place that will be the centre of many initiatives, the project involves many steps and we are still at the beginning! Among the things to do, we would like to realize a synergic garden, set up a naturalistic path, a space for carpentry and recycling materials. There are also the many daily jobs in the country, such as sorting firewood, hedge and garden maintenance, restoration of old furniture, animal care (we currently have dogs and cats but we will soon be chickens, hens and rabbits) etc. To welcome you you will find the ground floor of the house dedicated entirely to guests, with 3 rooms, kitchen and bathroom (shared), we live on the first floor. The farm is located on a hill with a 360° panorama of greenery, mountains and the surrounding villages. Connections to Rome: 30 min by car or train, 2 km to the nearest village, with services and premises. We will be happy to accompany you or direct you to sightseeing in and out of the city and, if you wish, you can share the activities that the association proposes. Our desire is to create an open space for sharing and friendship, a place to come to learn and help, everyone is welcome, with or without experience.
Our small farm extends for almost one hectare in the fertile territory of Zagarolo on the Roman castles of Prenestini, about 30 km from central Rome, and is a choice of life for me and my family. We started in 2008, buying a small piece of land, and we planted carefully choosing the crops suitable for the territory: the olive grove, the vineyard, the orchard, small fruit and an oasis of aromatic herbs for the production of natural remedies. We carefully choose, according to the season, the vegetables of the garden to be sown, planting certified organic plants and plants from self produced or exchanged seeds, in the logic of biodiversity conservation, and we continue self-sufficiency for 30% of food consumption of our family, producing eggs (hens and ducks but not for meat, here they die from old age), seasonal vegetables, potatoes, fruit, oil, wine and small fruit, honey and beehive products, selling the surplus of excellent quality. To help the return of the butterflies and pollinating insects we have planted a cultivation of officinal lavender on which in summer our bees work tirelessly to produce an excellent honey! We make bread, pasta and preserves for self-consumption, and when we have time also oleolites and soaps. We are available to explain how the products of the earth are stored, so that other people can do the same, and learn from the exchange of knowledge with the people who share our experience. We share our home with guests, providing a room with a bathroom. Donating to my daughter and young people, the values in which I believe, first of all the simplicity of life and the intensity that the earth offers us with its perfumes and its fruits, unconditionally giving us everything we need to live, is my commitment everyday!
Ciao I am Andrea and I manage a small farm of about 2ha, located in Velletri in the Castelli Romani area just 45 km from Rome and easily accessible by train and by bus. I produces mainly vegetables and olive oil, I just started a small production of goji (Lycium barbarum), I practice organic and biodynamic farming, herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers are not welcome. Once a week I load my truck and deliver the products of my land to houses in Rome, it acts as a meeting point between the local farming culture and the metropolis. I am passionate about herbs and medicines with which I prepare various types of infusions (alcoholic and not). I like to meet people who are passionate about agriculture and rural culture, to be able to teach and also to learn something new.  People with electrical skills are welcome also to perfect a solar dryer and with other agricultural projects.
Organic Food forest near Rome! Ciao! I am Stefano and I am 37 years old and I was born in Rome, I lived 4 years in Berlin and since 2013 I have taken care of 7 hectares of land, including an olive grove, a cultivation of aromatic plants and a lot of woodland, in Carpineto Romano, a town one hour south of Rome and 45 minutes from Sabaudia. I have traveled a bit and visited various ecovillages and farms in Europe and would like to gradually replicate these experiences with the help of a group of people. On the land which was abandoned for 20 years I am selecting the edible and usable essences creating a strip of food forest between the olive grove and the forest. There are blackthorns, cornelians, hawthorn, dog rose, wild cherries, plums, walnuts, chestnuts, pear trees and apple trees and many aromatic herbs including thyme, mint and marrubio; all spontaneous and natural. All this needs to be made accessible to anyone interested in building a harmonious relationship with nature and living there by living this relationship. I have a house in the village twenty minutes walk from the land but I would like to create the conditions to live in the woods at least in the summer, starting to collect rainwater and create a way to sleep there. During the week I go to Rome where I participate in the activities of the Forte Prenestino social centre and I would be happy to involve the wwoofers. I speak Italian, German, English, Spanish and I understand French! I'm waiting for you!
We are a cultural association of social agricultural interest and a peasant farm. We are looking for positive "contaminations". We are young guys on the run from the city (Matteo Rosalie, Filipe ...) supported by a large crew from our partner, a youth hostel in the country, a very stimulating and international environment with many cultural activities. In the locality of Sant'Apollaria we have a land of 1 HA where our olive trees are found, the vegetable garden, an orthosergic part, the chicken coop with chickens and geese, a barn with 7 goats. We develop itinerant farming experiences in the territory of Zagarolo and we have a dynamic to recover or manage abandoned or uncultivated land to take advantage of fruit trees, the vineyard and medicinal and aromatic plants. On Sundays we participate in the Zagarolo farmer's market, which brings together farmers and critical consumers who choose food at Km0, on Saturdays we are always organic and supportive in Rome and every Thursday we have our store on the ground. We have a cultural activity to be able to share the knowledge of farmers and be an open space for experimenting with projects, building self-sufficient territories where agriculture is a means of autonomy and active social life. We organize Open Day once a month with different activities: walks to discover wild herbs, documentary screening, farm aperitif, etc. The Wwoofers have free time to relax and enjoy the town of Zagarolo (http://www.enjoyzagarolo.it) or Rome only 30 minutes away by train! The volunteers live on the land in two-bed caravans (there is no space in our house). The comfort is primitive, like camping, but the hostel gives us the possibility of more (hot showers, Wifi, swimming pool ..)
Our small farm of 4 ha is located in Velletri, 45km from Rome, within the rich natural and cultural heritage of the Roman castles. We produce vegetables, fruit, olive oil and wine. We collaborate with a macrobiotic point of Rome. We practice natural farming: do not use synthetic products, not even organic fertilizers. Our objective is to adopt the right farming techniques so that the soil retains its fertility over time independently. Our cuisine is predominantly vegetarian. Vi aspettiamo!
