Summer List
I am Mirai, a 42 year old Italian-Japanese, I run a small family farm of 1.5 has, where I grow certified organic vegetables and soft fruit within a "eco-village" of 20 people, located on the Novara hills between the Valsesia and lakes and bordering a nature reserve. My brother Yukai (34), his girlfriend Raffaella (34) and an old friend, Renzo (73) run the farm with me. After many years of sustainable agriculture experiments for the self-consumption of the community for 3 years we have produced and sold our produce from the farm and at the market and also make preserves. We can host for periods of at least 15 days from the beginning of June to end of August in a caravan (possibly to be shared with another wwoofer) with access to shower and toilet in an adjacent building. The meals, vegetarian and made using our products, will be shared with myself, Yukai, Raffaella and the little Ryo (3) & Akira (0) & our dog Aria .. The activities we need help with are harvesting berries and vegetables, preparation for sale (cleaning, packaging), transplanting and sowing, hand weeding, mulching. You can also help us in the labeling of juices and compotes, come with us to the market, or share the preparation of our meals and management of the house or play with Ryo. We do not breed animals, but within the community there are dogs, cats, horses, bees and to avoid problems other animals are not permitted. Occasionally, as an ecovillage, we host cultural events with people from outside. The nearest village is 1km away, the Railway station 8km: Public connections are sketchy, but we can lend you our bikes. Preferably non-smokers, Wi-Fi available. Welcome couples and families with children. Languages spoken: Italian
Ciao we are Luca and Mary and in 2003 we decided to do something for ourselves and for the land, and so we left the city and came to live in the country. We started a small organic farm in eastern Piedmont, to be precise, Lake Maggiore. The farm is literally in the middle of the woods at 800 meters altitude and enjoys absolute tranquility. It can be reached on foot or with a 4x4. We have 6 ha of land, meadows and woods, in which we grow soft fruit, in particular blueberries and vegetables for self-consumption, we also breed bees and produce excellent honey that we work in our laboratory in which we also transform small fruits into jams. We are actively part of a provincial association, Bionovara, which deals with promoting the organic method and an ethically sustainable lifestyle. A part of the house is intended for hospitality as rural family hospitality. We often host groups practicing yoga, tai-chi and other holistic disciplines. The activities we carry out are very varied, according to the period you can work with bees, collect blueberries, build dry stone walls, make firewood in the woods etc. For woofers we offer a room for 1 person; our cuisine is vegetarian with mainly organic products. The moments in which we would be most interested in sharing our experiences go from March to September, but we are available to host also in other periods. We speak French well and medium English.
