Il mio podere comprende 10 ettari di bosco, un ettaro e mezzo dedicato alla coltivazione di erbe aromatiche per la produzione di spezie e 3 ettari di pascolo per gli asini. La vita che svolgo è semplice e un po' spartana. I campi sono tra i boschi, a 4 km dal centro abitato di Castellina in Chianti.
Inizio a lavorare all'alba e finisco al tramonto e chiedo agli ospiti un aiuto per 4/5 ore al giorno.
I lavori si articolano tra:
-diserbo manuale,
-zappare,
-piantare,
-raccogliere le aromatiche,
-seguire l'essiccazione, lo zafferano,
sono tutti lavori manuali ma non troppo pesanti.
Se fa troppo caldo ci si riposa al fresco sull'amaca,
se fa freddo si sta davanti al fuoco a parlare, leggere. Ho 7 asini nani che aiutano a pulire i campi e mantenere la fertilità. La sistemazione è in tenda o in una capanna di paglia e argilla. L'acqua è poca. In estate si riscalda con pannelli solari. In autunno, inverno si usa un boiler a legna. I vestiti si lavano a mano e senza detersivi inquinanti. Non c'è connessione wi-fi e l'elettricità fornita dai pannelli fotovoltaici basta per la luce e la ricarica del telefono. Il wc è nel bosco (una buca con sopra una sedia). Si preparano insieme i pasti: riso, pasta, verdure, legumi, olio, uova. Faccio il pane due volte a settimana. Per rispetto del cibo e di chi lava le stoviglie, chiedo cortesemente di pulirsi bene il piatto dopo mangiato facendo la scarpetta. Non fumo, mi piace un bicchiere di rosso a tavola e una birra fresca quando fa caldo. E guardare le stelle. La vita sociale è limitata agli incontri con amici artigiani e contadini nei mercatini tra Siena e Firenze, nei fine settimana di ogni mese. Posso ospitare solamente una persona per volta. Parlo tedesco, francese, italiano e pochissimo inglese. ******************************
I work here on 7 hectares of land, and I grow herbs for the production of spices. I lead a simple and spartan life. The fields are in between woods, 4 km from the town of Castellina in Chianti. The day begins at dawn and ends at sunset and you can help me with the various job for 4-5 hours a day. These are ... weeding, hoeing, planting, harvesting herbs, drying, saffron ... they are all manual but not heavy. When it's too hot, we relax or cool off in a nearby river. If it is cold we stay in front of the fire talking, reading. I am here on my own with 7 small donkeys that help clean and maintain the fertility of the fields. Accommodation is in a tent or in a hut made of straw and clay. There is not a lot of water. In the summer it is heated with solar panels, in autumn and winter using a wood-fired boiler. We wash clothes by hand and without polluting detergents. No internet and electricity provided by solar panels is just enough for light and charging the phone. The toilet is in the woods (a hole in the ground with a seat). We prepare meals together…. rice, pasta, vegetables, pulses, oil, eggs. I make bread twice a week. Out of respect for the food and for whoever washes the dishes, I ask you kindly to leave your plate clean. I do not smoke, I like a glass of red wine with meals and a cold beer in hot weather. And to look at the stars. The social life is limited to meetings with craftsmen and farmer friends in markets between Siena and Florence, on the weekends every month. I speak German, French, Italian and very little English. Can onlyu host 1 person.
