Azienda agricola comunitaria
Modena
Stiamo lavorando i nostri 8 ettari prevalentemente a vigna e frutti antichi.

The farm is at an altitude of 320m between the provinces of Modena and Bologna and close to Castello di Serravalle and surrounded by beautiful rolling hills. Here we welcome volunteers, friends and visitors who want to experience social farming orientated towards a self sufficient society where no one is left out. We work our 8 has and cultivate organic wine grapes, heirloom fruit trees. We produce a wine without using sulphates or additives and it is fermented in oak barrels up until it is bottled. We offer a nice guest room shared by wwoofers and you can share with us our multi-purpose living room and kitchen with our legendary round table! We all eat together-using our own produce when possible- vegetarian or not, respecting the tastes of everyone. We take WWOOFers all year round as there are always things to do.
Grazie mille a Alessandro, Davide, Alex e Elena, tornerò sicuramente!!

My 2 weeks at granaro were amazing! Such a great community and the work was pretty chill. I came mid October so the grape harvest was all done. My days consisted of wine transfers, bottling, and going to the markets to sell the wine to locals. Work was normally split up before and after lunch and all meals were eaten together. It’s an organic natural wine production and it is so cool to learn about the whole process. Alessandro is so kind and made me feel so welcome in his home. Will need to come back!

I had a great time at Alessandros and Davides Farm! They built such a welcoming atmosphere and community at their place. Me and the other wwoofers became part of the everyday life routines at the farm. Between harvesting the wine (and learning a lot about wine making), going to the markets, making bread and producing giant amounts of homemade pasta, we spent many lunches and dinners together at their big table talking and drinking their wine! Thank you again for everything!

Alessandro and his team were truly wonderful! I had so much fun on the farm and learned so much about the wine making process. I could not have asked for a better host and experience.

I spent 10 days with Alessandro and Davide and would have liked to stay longer if I hadn't already had other plans. Communication with Alessandro beforehand was very straightforward and pleasant. My stay at the beginning of September coincided with the preparations for the grape harvest and the first part of the harvest itself. Even though the harvest was quite hard work, we never had to overexert ourselves and were able to take breaks whenever we wanted.
In general, the relationship between us Wwoofers and Alessandro and Davide was very relaxed, and the workload was perfectly fine. In general, the relationship between us WWOOFers and Alessandro and Davide was very relaxed, and the workload was perfectly fine.
It was especially nice that we always cooked and ate together—even on days when friends came by to help out.
I can only recommend the farm to other WWOOFers. And very important: the wine is really good!

I cannot recommend Il Granaro highly enough. This place and the people instantly felt like home. I learned so much from Alessandro and had the most grounding experience. You will be changed for the better after a stay here!
