La nostra azienda è di circa 8 ettari di terreno di cui un paio di bosco, pascolo e oliveto. Il podere è stato costruito in età medioevale, ha una grande corte e dalle diverse abitazioni che racchiudono la sua storia. Siamo in Toscana, circondati dalle Riserve Naturali del Farma, e della Val di Merse. Le nostre attività sono principalmente agricole e agrituristiche. Coltiviamo un oliveto di circa 1 ettaro, che con i suoi 300 alberi ci tiene ben impegnate tra la potatura in primavera e la raccolta delle olive in Ottobre; un orto biodinamico, di erbe aromatiche e alberi da frutta, la raccolta e la lavorazione dei nostri prodotti per la produzione di marmellate, salse, e altre delicatezze del bosco; un piccolo allevamento di animali da cortile: oche, polli e anatre; tre asini cani e gatti, a cui dedichiamo parte della nostra giornata tra cura e attenzioni, la pulizia delle stalle, il cibo, l’educazione, la costruzione di recinti e piccole strutture dedicate agli animali. Nel periodo estivo è aperta una piccola attività agrituristica con quattro appartamenti da affittare e una zona camping, abbiamo una piccola piscina e un grande giardino che ha bisogno di „tanti pollici verdi“ e un po’ di ordine. Ospitiamo principalmente famiglie alla ricerca del contatto con la natura e gli animali, intrattenere i nostri ospiti è parte integrante del nostro lavoro. Si parla principalmente tedesco, italiano, inglese, e un poquito di spagnolo e francese. Cerchiamo persone responsabili, sensibili con gli animali, intraprendenti, socievoli e con un po’ di esperienza in campagna! cerchiamo buoni consigli, e un paio di amici con cui condividerli. Ospitalità in una camera con due letti con bagno doccia e stufa a legna o una roulotte nella zona camping con bagno esterno in un posto idillico! Autobus dalla stazione ferroviaria di Siena.

Our farm is about 8 hectares of land including a couple of woods, pastures and olive groves. The farm was built in the Middle Ages, it has a large courtyard and several houses that enclose its history. We are in Tuscany, surrounded by the Natural Reserves of Farma and Val di Merse. Our activities are mainly agricultural and agritourism. We cultivate an olive grove of about 1 hectare, which with its 300 trees keeps us busy between pruning in spring and harvesting olives in October; a biodynamic vegetable garden, aromatic herbs and fruit trees, harvesting and processing our products for the production of jams, sauces, and other delicacies of the forest; a small farm of farmyard animals: geese, chickens and ducks; three donkeys and four cats, to which we dedicate part of our day between care and attention, cleaning of the stables, food, education, construction of enclosures and small facilities dedicated to animals. During the summer period there is a small farm holiday activity with four flats to rent and a camping area, we have a small swimming pool and a large garden that needs "many green thumbs" and a bit of tidiness. We mainly host families looking for contact with nature and animals, entertaining our guests is an integral part of our work. We mainly speak German, Italian, English, and some French. We are looking for people who are responsible, sensitive to animals, resourceful, sociable and with some experience in the countryside! We are looking for good advice, and a couple of friends to share it with. Accommodation in a room with two beds with a shower room and a wood-burning stove or a caravan in the camping area with an outdoor bathroom in an idyllic spot! Bus from Siena train station.

My experience at Podere il Bosco was incredible. My mom and I came to this farm to help with the olive harvest, experience the local life in Tuscana, and immerse ourselves in nature. We originally planned on only spending one week here because of limited traveling time but ended up spending two weeks at the farm (almost our entire holiday). Isabella and Mila are incredible hosts: very friendly, great cooks, and so caring. The work was varied and never boring and Isabella was flexible with our days off so we could explore the nearby villages. The olive harvest was the best. I learned so much about how to harvest olives, the different kinds of olives, and of course had so much delicious oil. I highly recommend volunteering at Podere il Bosco, you will not regret it!
