Organic Food forest near Rome! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Organic Food forest near Rome! South Lazio Hi everyone I'm Stefano, I was born in Rome in 1981, I lived 4 years in Berlin and since 2013 I have been taking care of 6 hectares of land, including an olive grove, an aromatic plantation a blackberry and raspberry plantation, and a lot of woodland, in Carpineto Romano, a town an hour south of Rome and 45 minutes from Sabaudia. In southern Lazio. I have traveled a bit and visited various ecovillages and farms in Europe and would like to gradually replicate these experiences with the help of a group of people. On the land which was abandoned for 20 years I am selecting the edible and usable essences creating a stripe of food forest between the olive grove and the forest. There are blackthorns, cornelians, hawthorn, dog rose, wild cherries, plums, walnuts, chestnuts, pear trees and apple trees and many aromatic herbs including thyme, mint and marrubio; all spontaneous and natural. All this needs to be made accessible to anyone interested in building a harmonious relationship with nature and living there by living this relationship. I Twice a month I go to Rome where I participate in the activities of the Forte Prenestino social centre by taking part in a market, and I would be happy to involve wwoofers. I speak Italian, German, English, Spanish and understand French! I am waiting for you wwoofers!

I would definitely recommend coming to Stefanos farm. He made me part of his life on the farm. We did different things during 3 weeks and that made it interesting. He shared his knowledge with me, and I tried hard to remember it all :p Stefano is really kind and made me feel at home. One day I will win with the chess game :p

Stefano is truly a very wise, caring, hardworking, intelligent man and host. In the very short time I stayed and worked with him in his field, I gained more experience and knowledge about organic harvesting, ecological preservation and resourcefulness. Anyone searching for a down to earth and loving host would find that in him. He offered whatever he could to accommodate my stay and transfer whatever he knew onto me in such short time and notice. Not only did he aid me in understanding Italian transit, he also personally supported me by taking me to and from the nearest station, as well as being very communicative. I learned so much about Italian culture, farming culture and a simpler way of life. We tended to one of his fruit fields which transported me to a magical landscape and a truly meditative process and environment that I wouldn’t have traded for anything else. I can’t wait to be in touch again in the future and I wish him and any future wwoofers, hoping to meet him, a beautiful journey and productivity in any further endeavors!

This was my first WWOOF-ing experience and it was amazing! Over the course of one week we (myself, Stefano, and the other WWOOF-er) helped neighbours with small errands and built fences on the farm (5 min drive away). We worked at our own pace, made sure to take breaks, and wore the proper equipment (kindly provided by Stefano). After our four to five hour workday, he always made us a comforting meal and afterward we’d stroll around the beautiful Carpineto Romano and play with the cats in his backyard. I really recommend WWOOF-ing here because Stefano is very patient, kind, and a welcoming host.
