SALUTISSIMI Maria Valentina Bresciani ______________________________________________________________ my farm is a small reality where the land is cultivated and the animals and the soul are taken care of. It is a small reality of circular economy where as much as possible we try to use what is produced and recycle what is discarded. We grow vegetables and fruit organically and there is a small vineyard. I also have 30 chickens and 12 sheep. I bake with sourdough and collect wild herbs. I often use a raw earth oven and a couple of times a month I participate in a farmers' market. Where I sell baked goods and sweets. The surface of the farm is not very large, about two hectares and I am on a hill and therefore the territory is not completely flat. I would like to host a helper who accompanies me in the work of caring for the animals and the vegetable garden; a young man or a young woman who lives with us in the family, and who would still have free time to cultivate knowledge of the city and its interests in the two days and a half day a week free.

I spent two wonderful weeks with Valentina and Luca (her partner). The setting around the farm is sublime and they are very welcoming and caring. Valentina is a sincere and tolerant person with who we can discuss topics. She takes the time to explain how the farm works and shares her knowledge. The tasks I carried out are very diverse. I started my day by feeding the animals (sheep and chickens). Then, I harvested different fruits and vegetables that we processed (drying, cooking, juicing, etc.). She showed me how to make sourdough bread and bake pizza in her wood-fired oven. We also prepared a market together and I was able to attend. During my stay, I was able to go to Bologna to visit the city (it is easy to get there by bus).

I stayed with Valentina for almost four weeks. The place is truly beautiful and I stayed there in a very nice room and had everything I needed. I was welcomed into the household and enjoyed several nice trips where I could get to know the area and discover new things. You can feel that Valentina loves her work and that the farm, plants, and animals are her passion. Sometimes, I found it hard to get involved in the work processes and felt overwhelmed by the need for self-responsibility and skills I didn’t have as a first-time WWOOFer with almost no experience in farming and animal care (which was communicated before my stay). Valentina and I spent a lot of time together at work, at home, and sometimes on weekends. We mostly got along well, but there were some personal conflicts. Many things were quickly dealt with on a very personal level instead of talking about specific requirements and expectations to create a clear framework. All in all, it was a positive experience that I will definitely not forget. I am very thankful to Valentina and her partner for trusting me and welcoming me into their home, for everything I learned, and for the challenges that showed me what I want and need for future WWOOFing experiences.

I had a wonderful time staying with Valentina. She was extremely welcoming and kind, and I truly did feel right at home. The farm is located in a great spot, and there was a beautiful view of the valley. Valentina knows a lot about the land and farming in general, so the work that I did was a great learning experience for me. I had basically no farming experience prior to this stay, but Valentina was kind and patient the entire time. I helped take care of the chickens and the sheep, helped out in the vegetable garden, and helped her prepare homemade food. I had weekends free, and was able to take the bus to Bologna. Thank you Valentina for having me :)

Great woofing with Valentina, I learned a lot and the place is really beautiful, being at the top of a hill. You will take care of animals (sheeps and chickens) and help Valentina in the vegetable garden, to prepare bread, pasta, pizza and other home made food for the market ;) I also discovered medicinal plants, if you’re interested in, you will learn a lot with Valentina. As the previous woofers told, one way to do stuff and if you follow it, everything will be good ;) Valentina is nice and direct in her communication, you will got her way to do really fast. You will always have your Friday afternoon and your week-end free. The area is so great for people loving to walk, really and Bologna is a city to discover, very beautiful. Thank you again for welcoming !
