---o----o-----0-----o----o--- Natural farm using permaculture. Since April 2020 I have been working on my grandfather's land and in June 2022 I officially opened the farm. There is a wide variety of fruit trees, I have also started beekeeping, plus I have space for a family-sized vegetable garden. I also plan to get animals in there soon. From the end of May (cherry harvest) until the end of October/beginning of November (olive harvest) I have a number of very high-yielding fruit trees, so we try to pick the ripe fruit and sell it the same day. In addition, there is the vegetable garden which, if managed properly, yields vegetables every day that I use for sustenance on the farm. Agricultural activity coupled with tourism in general. I am registered on the Agricamper platform. Organic methods: The land is left fallow and then mowed so that organic material is continually added to the soil. I use mulch for the vegetable garden and fertilise with manure. I do not use any treatment on the trees. Preserve the existing biodiversity and implement it! Certifications: for the time being I have waived organic certification because it is of doubtful value. I do not rule out the possibility of obtaining it at a later date. Current projects: I presently have a number of projects that are starting, and others that will be forthcoming. In Apulia there are many opportunities in this respect! Accommodation and rural living are very spartan. For hot water in the summer there is no problem, in somewhat colder periods we have to equip ourselves. There is a compost toilet available. Internet access available with data roaming. Mini solar system for charging various devices, including PCs and battery chargers.

Our time at Il Trullo del Re with Francesco was great. His project is very interesting and we were inspired by his motivation and passion. We enjoyed all of the tasks we helped with, from harvesting herbs, weeding the aromatic labyrinth, planting seedlings and trees, cooking, etc. The property is beautiful and we were lucky to have worked alongside the wonderful Giuseppe and meet some of Francesco’s friends’ projects as well, picking cherries together and finding out more about life in rural Puglia. We’d love to come back someday and wish him all the best in his endeavors! ❤️

Over my two weeks at Francesco’s place, he generously shared the knowledge he has gained over the years at Il Trullo del Re. The place is more than an olive farm, it brings together gardening, beekeeping, friendly animals, travelers, and unforgettable people like Giuseppe. I learned to be attentive to every detail of the environment and even picked up some Italian, although Francesco’s English is excellent. Life there is simple and I was lucky to discover a fragment of Apulian culture, including a warm family lunch where I ate like a queen. Il Trullo del Re is a place for learning, discovery, kindness, humor and passionate conversations. I’m leaving with many positive memories and I’m grateful to Francesco for hosting me. I’ll gladly return in a few years to see the new projects that have taken shape! See you soon!

Me and my friend had a great time at Francesco's! We stayed there for nearly 10 days in September and did small tasks all around the farm like cracking nuts, moving olive branches, planting in the garden and some creative projects. We also had the opportunity to go to a market and got to know a lot of new and interesting people. The food was almost all organic and local and was soo good! We also miss Nana and Bar the two farm dogs. Overall a good first wwoofing expirience :). Thankyou Francesco for making this possible! Greating from Lisa and Noor!
