---o----o-----0-----o----o--- My wife and I have been involved in beekeeping with a passion for almost twenty years; we have experimented with the production of single and multi-flower honeys, with collecting pollen, producing royal jelly, and breeding queen bees and swarms. We have bought a farm in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines in the province of Bologna with several hectares of land and we would like to expand our farming activities (expand the vegetable garden and start breeding farmyard animals such as chickens and geese); our beekeeping business generates a small income but both my wife and I also work as educators in a social cooperative. We live on a farm in the mountains amidst nature. WWOOFers will be able to learn and assist in all beekeeping tasks, they will be engaged in garden work and land maintenance. They will eat the same food we eat as a family, and they will be housed in a separate flat with two bedrooms, bathroom, living room and kitchen. My family are my wife and my two children . The day will unfold according to my or my wife's work; there will be time to discover the beauty of the area I am a keen amateur musician; I play a variety of instruments: drums, Afro and Afro-Cuban percussion, guitar, ukulele, dijiridoo; with my children we play in the village band (daughter trumpet, son trombone, bass tuba, me, a beginner!) I worked for several years as a professional pizza maker and now I dabble in making pizza with my oven! Less than 2 km away is the swimming pool in the village where we live, open in winter and summer for keeping fit and having fun with friends. There are also plenty of rivers and lakes nearby where you can take a refreshing dip. About 20 km away is Corno alle Scale, where you can go trekking at high altitude and ski or snowshoe in winter.

My time with Franz and Diana was short but warm and welcoming. I appreciate how I was included in their family experiences; going to the festival and dinner at a friends (delicious homemade pizza by Franz!). If you’re good at pingpong you must beat Franz for me, I stood no chance! This was a genuine family experience where you are free to be yourself and where I’m sure you’ll get lots of opportunities to explore the beautiful area. Thank you Franz and Diana, it was wondering staying with you! Lots of love Lydia

We had a lovely five-day stay with Franz, Diana, their two adorable and charming kids, lovely Leila the dog, and their five cats—what a crew! Even though Franz and Diana have busy schedules, they were always thoughtful and made sure we could enjoy the work at a relaxed, comfortable pace. We especially loved chatting with Franz and Diana — they are full of interesting stories and ideas, and our conversations added so much warmth and depth to the experience. We shared some delicious homemade dinners with the family, and thanks to Franz’s amazing cooking, we got to experience a real taste of Italy. Their WWOOF profile photos might look simple, but don’t be fooled—their home is perched on a hill with a breathtaking view of the village below. The village itself is absolutely charming and worth exploring on foot, with plenty of beautiful trails to wander. Everyone we met in the village was kind, and the nearby forest even held a few fun surprises for us. We also learned a lot about beekeeping, farm life, and the rhythm of rural Italian living together with Franz and his family. All in all, it was an incredible experience. If you're thinking of WWOOFing with this family, you're in for a real treat—treat them with the same kindness and warmth they show to others! 😊

My short but sweet stay at this farm was a beautiful little adventure. I not only go to work together with Franz and other Wwoofers, I was also able to explore the town close by and have some time to relax and enjoy the amazing food I was served each day. I enjoyed how each day was a bit different and how flexibly the daily work load was decided. I mainly helped organising the farm, cutting and stacking wood. It was hard but rewarding work with enough time to just enjoy the day as well. Thank you for hosting me, all the best!!
