Ciao. Mi chiamo Umberto e gestisco insieme a Francesco l'azienda agricola La Gacchelina nata nel 2023. Per fortuna non siamo soli in quest'avventura. Le nostre famiglie e un folto gruppo di amici ci supporta.
I lavori che svolgiamo sono molto vari. La Gecchelina è un cantiere dove c'è sempre tanto da fare: bonificare pendii invasi dai rovi, aggiustare o modificare pollai mobili, prendersi cura delle patate o delle zucche.
Le attività che cadenzano la nostra settimana in mezzo a tutto questo caos sono gli spostamenti di polli e galline, la cernita delle uova e la manutenzione del frutteto agroforestale (che usiamo per il pascolamento).
Usiamo tutto il tempo rimanente per aggiungere sempre un pezzettino al progetto complessivo che abbiamo in testa.
Io e Francesco viviamo a Valdagno (qualche km dalla fattoria) anche se siamo presenti ogni giorno per monitorare gli animali. Pranziamo sempre insieme durante la settimana e aggiungeremo volentieri un posto a tavola. Ci siamo ricavati una stanzetta con stufa che ci permette di scaldarci nelle fredde giornate d'inverno e di rifiatare quando fa molto caldo.
Abbiamo la possibilità di ospitare i woofer direttamente alla Gecchelina nel caso vogliano dormire in tenda, oppure abbiamo una stanza con bagno presso la nostra abitazione. Siamo disponibili anche ad accogliere woofer che abitano nelle vicinanze e vogliono darci una mano!
Mi piace correre e arrampicare. Mi piace mettermi alla guida del camper con la mia famiglia ma partire tutti assieme per una ciclovia è ancora meglio.
Lavorativamente mi piace studiare e sperimentare. Rielaborare concetti e metterli in pratica. Ho un certo talento per iniziare mille attività rendendomi la vita difficile (solo il pragmatismo di Francesco e di mia moglie Anna riescono a contenermi).
Durante la permanenza dei WWOOfer mi piace condividere:
- la passione per l'agicoltura rigenerativa
- il perchè delle scelte fatte
- gli aspetti economici che permettono alla fattoria di funzionare
La Gecchelina è il posto giusto se sogni di avviare una tua azienda agricola e cerchi degli spunti. Sono aperto a condividere quanto appreso in questo viaggio. Ho a disposizione una piccola biblioteca di testi che sono stati per noi d'ispirazione.
Hello. My name is Umberto and I run the La Gacchelina farm (founded in 2023) together with Francesco. Fortunately, we are not alone in this adventure. Our families and a large group of friends support us.
The work we do is very diverse. La Gacchelina is a construction site where there is always a lot to do: clearing slopes overrun by brambles, fixing or modifying mobile chicken coops, taking care of potatoes or pumpkins.
The activities that structure our week are moving chickens and hens, sorting eggs and the maintenance of the agroforestry orchard (which we use for grazing).
We use any remaining time to continuously add a little piece to the overall project we have in mind.
Francesco and I live in Valdagno (a few kilometers from the farm) although we are present every day to monitor the animals. We always have lunch together during the week and would gladly add a seat at the table. We have a small room with a stove that allows us to warm up on cold winter days and catch our breath when it's very hot.
We have the possibility to host WWOOFers directly at La Gacchelina if they are comfortable sleeping in a tent or we have a room with bathroom at our home. We are also open to welcoming WWOOFers who live nearby and want to lend a hand!
I enjoy running and rock climbing. I like take a break with my camper or use the bike to have an holiday.
Professionally, I like to study and experiment. Revisiting concepts and putting them into practice excites me. I have a tendency to start numerous activities, making life challenging for myself (only the pragmatism of Francesco and my wife Anna can keep me in check).
During the WWOOfer stay I like to share:
- the passion for regenerative agriculture
- the reason for the choices made
- the economic aspects that allow the farm to function
