Dopo pranzo ci piace giocare a carte o fare cruciverba.. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Hi, I'm Federica, I live in Lusernetta in the heart of Val Pellice. Our farm has been certified organic since 2001 and we have an area of 13 hectares. 3/4 hectares are orchards, while the rest is meadow-pasture, from which we produce hay and fresh fodder for a young shepherd from the upper valley. Our family is made up of me, my husband Dante (who doesn't work in the farm except as a hobby), my daughter Ilaria who works in a company nearby and my son Damiano who works with me. We grow strawberries, blueberries, pears, apples, chestnuts and kiwis; we are a Slow Food Presidium of ancient Piedmontese apple varieties. We have two dogs and two cats, and from November to June 300 sheep, 30 goats and 30 cows owned by Giampaolo, our shepherd, stay here. Our days are very varied, it depends a lot on the season. In the spring the fruit trees are pruned and the orchards arranged with replacement of poles and wires, barefoot and earthings to contain weeds, in the summer the blueberries are harvested, hay is made, meadows and orchards are irrigated every 10 days . In autumn the pears, apples and kiwis are harvested, with storage in the cold rooms. Two or three times a week we go to the market, usually the Slow Food Piedmont and Lombardy Earth Markets or other markets in Turin and the surrounding area. We have an independent structure that we rent as a farmhouse, 300 meters from the farm where guests find a kitchenette, external bathroom, surrounding relaxation area, between the edge of the forest and the orchards. The area is often frequented by roe deer, squirrels, dormice, little hares and other inhabitants of the forest. We work determinedly, but our meals are sacrosanct! We like to eat, we cook our own products and those of surrounding colleagues. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, barring any particular unforeseen circumstances, are managed with the collaboration of everyone, whoever has more time prepares and we eat all together. Anyone who wants to WWOO with us will be welcome at our table, but even will be able to manage some meals independently if they prefer. Val Pellice is a very rich valley from a natural and cultural point of view: we are associated with InValpellice, a tourist offer portal that brings together all the specific features of the valley, from museums to sports facilities. We are also members of UpSlowTour, a portal dedicated to those who love cycle tourism, with equipped and signposted rings. I don't have much time for hobbies and sports, but every now and then I treat myself to a few visits to exhibitions and museums, and while at the market I knit. After lunch we like to play cards or do crosswords..

I had a wonderful WWOOF experience with Federica and her family. They were all so friendly, nice, and made me feel so warmly welcomed from day one. I stayed in an independent house, which was very comfortable, but we always came together to share meals. Federica is great company, and we had so many lovely chats both around the table and while working together. My daily work consisted of weeding, preparing the veggie greenhouse, planting veggies, and harvesting strawberries. I also prepared two flower garden. I just hope all the seeds I planted actually grow and turn into flowers :). I am so grateful to Federica and her family for their wonderful hospitality. Since we live very close by, I hope our paths cross again! Thank you for everything!

This was my first wwoofing experience and my first time travelling to Europe. Federica and her family made this experience feel like the best decision I had ever made. This incredibly welcoming family made me feel right at home with them every day. My new favorite place to visit is definitely going to be their house. I can't wait for my next visit and I HIGHLY recommend them to anybody hoping to travel to Italy.
