Azienda agricola biologica ad Ispica nel Val di Noto, culla del barocco siciliano
Ragusa
Mi chiamo Valeria, vivo in campagna insieme a mio marito Simone e ai miei cagnoloni: Lotto, Lillo, Diego, Zara, Raja e Strella.

My name is Valeria, I live in the countryside with my husband Simone and my big dogs: Lotto, Lillo, Diego, Zara, Raja and Strella.
In 2019 I moved to my grandfather's old country house and farm, which I renovated and slowly started the process of transformation from a conventional farm to an organic farm and am slowly replacing some monocultures with consociated plants, and starting a process of agroforestry.
I am a member of the Sicilian LeGallineFelici Consortium, that has a vision in which I reflect myself very much:
A world in which
women farmers and farmers,
women workers and workers,
female consumers and consumers,
create, maintain and promote
happy relationships.
I have also recently finished renovations on part of the farm buildings that will be converted to a retail shop and room for education and tastings.
I run the farm organically and practice minimum tillage for soil management. I am making a stormwater storage tank and new arboricultural installations.
The next project is an educational vineyard, so I will have the pleasure of sharing my knowledge about the world of sustainable viticulture.
WWOOFers will be guests in our house, they will have a room for their own use (maximum two people, double bed though!) or in good weather we can also set up tents in the garden and under the olive trees, we have a pitch available for campers as well (with power outlet, direct water connection and drainage of grey water only).
Meals will be prepared together in the kitchen and are mainly traditional Sicilian vegetarian dishes.
I love board games very much; you will find about 50 of them in the house for all to enjoy!
There is a fantastic sea nearby (we are located at the southernmost tip of the Sicilian east coast (Punta Cirica, Marina Marza, Granelli) and only 20 minutes from the Vendicari Oriented Nature Reserve and 5 minutes from Pantano Cuba and Pantano Longarini where you can go birdwatching!

I can't find the words to describe my three-month stay and the incredible warmth of the people at Netum. Here, I found a second family and would love to praise every single person and dog I got to know during my stay, but that's impossible. So I'll keep it short and say:
Grazie infinite.
Netum is a sacred place. The people and dogs here are angels. Valeria, her family and friends, the Wwoofers I saw come and go, will always be in my heart. ❤️
This is the place where you become part of the ecosystem of love and pure joy grows within you along with the orange trees.
And once you've been here, embraced by the sun and wind of Sicily, you are part of Netum.
Forever.
🐾 Amunì to change your life for the better 🐾 ;)

I had a wonderful time at Valeria's farm this winter! I could only stay for about a week, but it was still amazing. At the start of my WWOOFing Valeria went on a trip, but the other WWOOFers and I had a great time playing card games, cooking, exploring nearby towns, and getting to know each other. I felt very welcomed from the second I got off the train, not only by Valeria, but the other WWOOFers and the dogs!
The work was very reasonable; we started with picking avocados and then weeding the vineyards. Starting in the morning and ending around noon. Another highlight was the home cooked meals every day, by collaboration with the other volunteers. My roommate was of course amazing, and I will miss her and her dog dearly. <33
Thank you so much for the opportunity to experience this amazing week and meet new friends. I wish you all the best with your future. Please give all the dogs pets for me! <3

I enjoyed my time at Valerias farm a lot! I felt so welcome and warmly received from the very first second. The amount of work is very fair in exchange for what you get and never extremely hard. The farm is super lovely and beautiful, there are so many nice people that you work with and in the afternoon and evening we often went to the beach, did small trips or simply cooked together. I had the most wonderful and fun dinners with Valeria and the other woofers or workers and there were so many nice conversations.
I had a great time and would definitely recommend this farm!

I spent a month on Valerias Azienda and I wish it could have been longer: I was able to help with pruning the olive trees (after missing the harvest unfortunately), participate in the orange and avocado harvest, weed the fields, and also be involved in the numerous contacts with SoLaWis and cooperatives on the farm, in the documentary being made about Valeria and the farm, and ask questions about anything that interested me. But that wasn't all: I attended family celebrations, we played board games together, sang, baked Christmas cookies, cooked, went to the sea, took part in a swing dance class and also attended a children's afternoon at Netum.
Thank you so much for the intense time. I miss you and your family, your dogs, your friends, your lovely colleagues and my fellow wwoofer with her dog.
I have great respect for what you, dear Valeria, have achieved, what you do for the people around you, for and with the Consorzio Siciliano LeGallineFelici, and the energy you put into all of this.
Grazie a te!

Hello all :)
I stayed two weeks at Valeria's place.
And they were really special!
I got to know the work of "The happy chickens" - Le Galline Felice. A cooperative of farmers in Southern Sicily Valeria is a vital part in -> https://www.legallinefelici.bio/
I enjoyed the conversations with Valeria and her family. And the many encounters with client-friends from Galline Felici.
It was a busy time regarding the network of the cooperative. So some flexibility was needed. I am happy I could get an insight in the activities of the Galline!
I worked mostly from 8 to 13h. Work included for example picking olives and assisting the pruning of the trees.
I stayed with another Wwoofer in a room at the farm. We got along really well with each other!
Also I liked to spend time with the team at the farm! I am thankful for this experience.
