Hi! We’re Marcela & Mark, a couple in our mid-life, embracing a new chapter. Early 2025, we left Switzerland to start our adventure in the idyllic Tuscan Maremma. Our farm, INSPIRA, spans 8.5 hectares and is just a stone’s throw away from Grosseto and the stunning blue Mediterranean waters. We’re passionate about permaculture, sustainable living and regenerative organic farming. INSPIRA reflects our values and the spirit that inspired us to choose a different way of life. As former WWOOFers, we cherish the opportunity to connect, share and grow with like-minded people who are on their own journeys toward a more meaningful, eco-conscious lifestyle. We are getting ready to also start agritourism hosting later this year in the adjacent dependence. On the farm there is a large olive grove with 800 trees, an orchard with 100 fruit and nut trees, a small vineyard, and a field of lavender. We are building a “food forest” and a large patch for our vegetable garden including some Strawberry trees and chickens (for the eggs), mainly for our consumption all year. We want to start a medicinal garden, and have a large area we want to reforest to create a small haven for wild animals. Bees will soon be a topic too. How our weeks and days could look like when you visit our farm: upon arrival (either by car on your own, or we can pick you up in Grosseto if you arrive by plane + train or bus) we will show you around, let you get settled and give you an overview of activities we will be focusing on that week. On a daily basis, after breakfast we share the activities of the day and agree on the plan according to needs and requirements. Your weekly experience will be agreed in terms of schedule, but we generally have activities during the mornings, or later in the afternoon. Activities can include (these vary according to the seasons). Please note that the minimum stay is 2 weeks to ensure you get to know the farm and that we all have a great experience: - Olive harvesting and looking after the olive grove. - Planting and caring for of the food forest. - Creating, planting, tending to and harvesting from the vegetable beds and fruit plants/trees. - Care of the farm animals (a few chickens) - Processing garden produce and fruit - Participation in educational and experiential workshops on permaculture and organic farming - Care for and maintain the forest and wilderness area on our land - Learn how to make the compost - If you have any special skills you would like to share, we will be happy to hear about them and see how they can be shared. - There is always plenty to do, and other activities may arise. We have 3 very lovely bedrooms for wwoofers that can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people (in total). If you are couples one bedroom has a “King-size bed” (180x200cm) and an ensuite bathroom, and the other two bedrooms have “Double beds” (140x200cm) and share a larger bathroom with bathtub/shower. If you are single, the double rooms will function as single rooms. All rooms have internet access and lovely views onto the rural rolling hills. There is large and comfortable living spaces available, both in- and outdoors. Breakfast time may vary a little with the time of the year, especially in Summer we prefer to start early. But don’t worry, fruit, bread and coffee or tea, as well as healthy snacks are available anytime. Around 13:30 (1:30 PM) a delicious lunch will be shared. Our meals are very healthy and mostly vegetarian, and because we are foodies, we like to make them quite tasty (if you have special requirements, let us know, we will do our be to accommodated for you to feel comfortable). We like food from different parts of the world, although for sustainability reasons we try to use local and seasonal ingredients (we aim for it to be mostly our own produce), and love to learn new recipes! In the evening, dinner is around 19:00 (7 PM) and at some point games or music by the fire or under the stars are a nice way to end the day, occasionally we do a movie evening. We believe in a balanced way of life, and relaxing is important. Mark loves water sports and jogging or hiking, and Marcela is also an artist (painting and working with paper). We both do yoga and meditation every day (or we try to). In the area, the Tuscan Maremma, there is plenty to visit, especially natural and cultural wonders. If you like water activities, we are 30 min from white sandy beaches, and 1h from thermal baths. If you are like Marcela and art and history makes you tick: Siena is 1h away and Rome 1h30 (by train). The famous Roman and Etruscan archaeological sites are to be found all over the region. Wine tasting is just a few steps away and all over the area. For foodies, there is more than you can dream of in terms of places to try typical local Italian specialties. It is very important to us, that during your visit we live in a friendly community, that we all contribute to create a harmonious, peaceful and respectful environment, where we can enjoy each others' company, learn from each other and have fun, finding a good balance between work, rest and leisure. We will be happy to talk to you and get to know each other, or if you have any questions, feel free to contact us. Siamo a 30 minuti dalle spiagge e a 1 ora dalle terme. The Inspira Farm is a really beautiful place! Marcela and Mark are super kind. They started the project less than one year ago and they already achieved amazing things and there are still many plans in the making/planing where you can join;) I recommend! Thanks for everything<3

Wow! I am so grateful for my time at Inspira! The place is incredible, and it was a pleasure to go out to work every morning. The tasks are varied, and Marcella and Mark are wonderful hosts who are always available to share their knowledge and make us learn about permaculture. They do everything they can to make you feel at home. I feel really lucky to have been part of their inspiring adventure for 3 weeks, especially for their food forest project and I hope I'll come back one day to see how it grew 🌱 Coming to Inspira is living a truly human experience and feeling so connected to the living. THANK YOU 🫶🏼

My time with Marcela and Mark was nothing short of magical. The work was interesting and full of sustainable lessons, and meal time was delicious and fun. We shared stories and many laughs. They are flexible and very communicative about your time; this allowed for me to take day trips and explore Tuscany! The future vision of the farm is exciting and purposeful. I loved the routine and meeting lots of people from around the world. You will love your visit!

My time at INSPIRA was truly inspiring. I had a wonderful time and I enjoyed every minute. Marcella and Mark have a vision to turn their farm in a sustainable, eco-friendly and welcoming place for animals, plants and humans and they follow their vision with passion and courage. I felt welcome from the very beginning and the warm atmosphere, the beautiful surrounding and the delicious food Marcella provided made me feel at home instantly. The daily tasks were demanding but diverse which gave me the opportunity to try many different things and to learn a lot. Plus we always had a lot of fun and great communication together. All in all I consider myself lucky to have contributed a little bit to realisation of the vision of INSPIRA and I wish I could have stayed longer than 4 weeks. I am looking forward to follow the development of INSPIRA and to meet Marcella, Mark and the other wwoofers sometime again. All the best to you!

Inspira is a wonderful place! The hosts make you feel at home and you learn a lot from them, they are very inspiring :) Next to learning about permaculture and meeting amazing people, there was the opportunity to do yoga, be creative and explore places nearby. I would definitely recommend Inspira!

I spent a magnificent week as a Wooffer and loved every minute. It was hard but gratifying work, working the land of an organic olive farm. We were treated with great love and respect and were fed delicious food for meals and slept like stones at night in the beautiful house on a Tuscan Hill. It was lovely to meet other joint woofers from various backgrounds and share this out of this world experience! I can’t wait for a repeat! 🫶🏻
