Ritmi e silenzi della campagna
Pisa

La Valle is a small family farm with a farm holiday. The farm is from the 1800s, and my son and I have been working for over 10 years to renovate our part and revive it. We grow olive trees, saffron, vegetables and produce honey. Cleo and Blu our shepherd dogs, chickens and cats live with us.
We start our day early in the morning and follow the rhythms of nature, depending on the seasons, we take care of pruning, tidying the crops, planting and harvesting. Our beloved bees, on the other hand, require care mainly in spring and summer.
We can accommodate a woofer, and he/she will have his/her own private room. He will share the rest of the day with family and guests at our small farm.
The valley is only 1.5 km from the village, which is also within walking distance and very lively. The center and surrounding area are rich in modern art, exhibits and museums. There is no shortage of nature trails. Volterra, Florence, Pisa and Lucca are easily reached by public transportation.

I really enjoyed my time at La Valle. The farm is set in a peaceful, picturesque spot near the village of Peccioli. During the day, you are surrounded by two dogs, chickens, and cats, which makes it feel very homey. Since it rained quite a bit while I was there, most of the work was indoors. I mostly helped with painting and a bit of tidying. On sunny days, we spent time outside, getting the garden ready for spring.
Viviana takes great care of you, cooks delicious Tuscan meals, and even takes you along on shopping trips or local visits. Evenings and weekends are free, so you can explore the nearby village or cities like Lucca and Volterra.
For me, it was a wonderfully relaxing experience. Just keep in mind that besides the working it is pure country life, quiet and very peaceful.

My time at Viviana’s property was amazing in many ways. Viviana herself is a kind and caring soul and very easy to connect with. She is very patient and communicative.
I greatly enjoyed my time picking olives, processing food, spending time in the vegetable garden, tending to the bees and accompanying Viviana on many tasks like shopping and preparing for guests. Each day is varied and discussed beforehand so you know how to prepare yourself.
This is a great opportunity to learn about operating an Agriturismo and learning about small scale farming practices. Because Viviana warmly welcomes you into her home and family, it is a wonderful place to learn about the Tuscan culture and way of life, especially with her extensive knowledge and love for good food. Though the property is secluded (which is one reason it is so lovely), the village is still accessible by foot and Viviana is happy to help you reach farther destinations on days off.
You will be provided with a cozy room, plentiful food, and wonderful company. An incredible experience.

Best 1st woofing experience in Italy 🧡
Staying at Viviana's farm was such a gift!
From the start she and her family made me feel very welcomed into their space and provided an excellent opportunity for me to learn about the industry of agriturism.
Overall, a very rich and unique Italian experience I wish to everyone, specially if you too want to have your own orchard one day and learn how to diversify its income streams. Also, Viviana's disposition to teach was also very helpful along the process and I really appreciated how time off work was respected.
Last but not least! What I highly value about this stay is that it felt like an authentic and traditional Italian experience in the countryside, days filled with very delicious food cooked by Viviana, harvesting seasonal produce, working in the garden and exploring around the close-by area of Tuscany (and the wonderful little town of Peccioli!)
Thank you so much for everything, I'll keep this experience very close to my heart.
Alla prossima!

June 2025
I can't recommend Viviana and La Valle Farm enough. From the moment I arrived, Viviana and her sister made me feel at home. La Valle is beautiful and located a 30-minute walk from the quaint village of Peccioli, not far from Lucca, Pisa, Florence, and Volterra if you have a car. I stayed for two weeks in June, and the work primarily consisted of waking up early and tending the organic garden. The work was varied and also included helping clean the guest room, preparing jams and cakes with Viviana, helping tend the bees, and going to town to run errands. Overall, I learned a lot about agritourism, sustainable farming, and life in the Tuscan countryside. Viviana always treated me like part of her family, and when I got sick, she arranged an appointment, drove me to her doctor and pharmacy, and took care of me. Weekends and evenings you are free to do as you like, and many times Viviana brought me to other farms and places around Tuscany to show me the area. I absolutely loved my time there and plan on coming back in the future!
