Agriturismo, orticoltura, frutticoltura
Genova

Hi, we are Cate and Segundo from Switzerland and Argentina, and we have put down roots in Lavagna.
We grow all kinds of vegetables, experiment with agroforestry and permaculture, and take care of the olive grove with annual pruning and without the use of chemicals.
Here we are developing a forward-looking agritourism concept, where every weekend we cook with our own produce and collaborate with local businesses to convey the value of the land, biodiversity, and community through food.
We share the space with three very affectionate cats, 11 ducks, 10 hens, and a rooster.
Activities vary greatly depending on the season and are always carried out with a 360-degree view of the transformation of both the place and the produce.
The goal is to cultivate curiosity not only about what grows in the garden, but also about everything that surrounds us and can become a valuable resource: from wild herbs to be transformed into herbal teas, to pruned branches to be turned into wood chips, to grass clippings used as mulch.
Every day begins with feeding and watering the chickens and ducks.
In spring, the days begin in the seedbed, with the first sowing in the open field, the last pruning of the olive grove and fruit trees, and—inevitably—the grass cutting, always so much grass.
In summer, we work early in the morning to avoid the hottest hours: we harvest, sow autumn vegetables, learn and apply mastication in the vegetable garden, and celebrate the wheat harvest!
Finally, everything we produce is processed in our workshop: through fermentation and preservation, the cycle is complete.
The bedroom is an attic in our house with a private bathroom, potentially shared with another woofer.
We provide everything you need for breakfast, we'll have lunch together, and dinner is on your own.
We are incredibly lucky to be a stone's throw (literally) from the center of Lavagna and 10 minutes from the station. It is therefore very convenient to explore our surroundings and the entire Ligurian coast, which has so much to offer.

We spend a little more than 2 weeks with Cathe and Segundo and enjoyed this beautiful place a lot. It has a really calm, easygoing atmosphere – nothing feels rushed or overly strict, which we appreciated a lot.
The food was definitely a highlight. Most meals were homemade, and the Italian dinners in particular were amazing – simple, authentic, and always something to look forward to.
Their garden itself is beautiful and peaceful, with lots of little spots to just sit and enjoy the surroundings. And the cats were a big bonus – very cute and always around.
Work-wise, we had quite a bit of independence, which we liked. We could organize some things ourselves and still had plenty of time to explore the area or just relax. It didn’t feel like we were being watched all the time, more like being trusted to do our part.
What made the biggest difference for us was how “at home” it felt. We could use everything we needed – shower, washing machine, kitchen – without it being a big deal, which made daily life really easy.
Thank you again for the wonderful time 💚

My experience on the farm was amazing and fun. I felt welcome right away, and it quickly felt more like spending time with friends than anything else.
I really enjoyed helping out, learning new things, and just hanging out together. There were so many good laughs and great moments.
And of course, the food was so good – seriously.
Also, it seems like after yesterday’s game of Skyjo, I’m still the Skyjo king
Thanks for everything, and I really hope we’ll see each other again!

I had a great time on the “Radical” farm. I was able to learn a lot, was given new tasks every day, and the food was fantastic! Cate and Segundo are very kind, accommodating, funny, and caring, so I always felt comfortable. I would come back anytime and I’m happy for everyone who will get to have this experience on the farm as well :))

Grazie mille sempre e naturalmente a Bobi il gatto cane
