Hello WWOOFers, my name is Brigitta, and together with Sabine and other short-term housemates, I've been managing the Mairhof farm since 2024. This fulfilled my dream of living as a mountain farmer, after having volunteered on another hay milk mountain farm in the region in 2020. Before that, I worked as a manager in international cooperation.
My day usually starts in the chicken coop and with feeding our various pets (currently three cats). Then we prepare breakfast for ourselves, our house guests, and helpers. From spring onwards, there's plenty to do in the garden again, as we want to develop into a self-sufficient farm based on permaculture principles. This year we're also expanding our livestock: we've had bees since April, and we expect to have llamas in the summer and alpacas in the winter.
We also have a swimming pool, which we plan to use for cultural events, and a cabin that we intend to convert into a yurt. We also want to build a greenhouse.
In summer, the main tasks are mowing the meadows and harvesting in the garden. A highlight will certainly be the walks with the New World camelids, which we will offer as part of our animal encounters.
With us, you'll gain insight into how we envision sustainable living within the framework of mountain farming combined with coworking programs. It's about health, animal husbandry, horticulture, and an overall trauma-sensitive approach to living and working. But it's also about how we can bring together tradition and modernity, past and future. And how we can help shape the digital transformation for the benefit of both people and nature.
We have breakfast together and one hot meal together each day; in the evenings, we usually have a light meal. We prepare the food together. Sabine is a nutritionist and expert in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). As a passionate and excellent cook, she conjures up delicious, healthy vegetarian dishes from South Tyrol using high-quality ingredients.
I'm in the mountains as often as I can be, in summer as well as winter. Furthermore, as a coach and organizational consultant, I support BASIS Vinschgau Venosta, a social innovation hub in the valley, with workshops. I am also an active member of the local citizens' cooperative, the social cooperative blufink, and the INSIST network (International Network for Systemic Impact in South Tyrol).
The opportunities for experiencing nature (mountains, lakes), sports (cycling, kitesurfing, mountaineering, climbing), and culture (monasteries, churches, Merano) are virtually endless. In the Langtauferer Valley alone, there are 30 peaks over 3,000 meters to discover.

Network for Systemic Impact in South Tyrol).
