ciao mi chiamo maria pia (1961) e lavoro in una piccola fattoria di mia proprietà cercando di autoprodurmi la maggior parte del necessario per vivere. ho 1 figlio (2000) che vive e lavora con me ( al momento però in Bolivia come volontario, torna a giugno). coltivo in modo organico l'orto, la vigna e l'oliveto e sono appassionata di piante da fiore e spontanee edibili o abili a prevenire e curare e allontanare malattie e parassiti negli orti.
uso pochissime " macchine" ma zappo o estirpo a mano ciò che va eliminato negli orti, panifico, so cucinare, produco tutte le salse e marmellate e conserve. La casa, il suo esterno e il giardino sono molto vissuti e puliti pertanto necessitano di lavoro continuo. Ho gatti sempre intorno e allevo polli e galline. A parte ciò ho una alimentazione prevalentemente vegetariana con una grande varietà di erbe e verdure di stagione sempre a disposizione.
L'orto è al centro dei lavori tutto l'anno. conservo i semi personali e quindi semino, trapianto e seguo i vegetali nella loro crescita. ogni tanto c'è qualche progetto nuovo come una spirale, un letto rialzato, uno spostamento di piantumazione ma prevalentemente si lavora nell'orto pulendo dalle infestanti, zappando, innaffiando e raccogliendo. In estate si lavora molto anche in laboratorio per salse, marmellate, confetture varie. Le attività generalmente iniziano alle 8 dopo aver fatto colazione, fino all'ora di pranzo con breve pausa.
Preparo il pranzo ( l'aiuto dei volontari quando offerto è gradito) e si mangia insieme, si pulisce insieme, dopodiché i volontari sono liberi fino a sera ( 19.00/ 20.00) dove l'aiuto è richiesto per preparare la cena e finire la giornata insieme.
ci sono 2 camere disponibili ma ospiterei un massimo di 3 persone ( quindi posso offrire anche una certa privacy) e preferisco un minimo di 15 giorni di permanenza. ovviamente lenzuola ed asciugamani sono disponibili. c'è wifi, lavatrice ed acqua calda ma chiedo sempre un grande rispetto per l'uso consapevole dell'energia e dell'acqua come importanti risorse da rispettare.
sono appassionata di cinema, musica e giardinaggio. durante il giorno preferisco quindi stare fuori, nella terra, ho centinaia di piante grasse e riproduco x talee o per semi quasi qualsiasi cosa. la sera guardo un film o leggo. La casa è piena di libri in italiano, inglese e altre lingue...
vivo in una importante zona archeologica con mura della città di Telesia e un anfiteatro ( anche se mal mantenuta pulita dalle istituzioni) e una Abazia in cui si possono vedere importanti resti archeologici. A 5 minuti da casa c'è un bellissimo parco naturale con un imponente ruscello , le montagne intorno alla mia valle sono facilmente raggiungibili oltre a 2 vicinissime colline. Nel paese vicino c'è un bellissimo lago ed una Spa estiva. Tutto ciò è possibile durante i pomeriggi liberi se non si preferisce un'amaca in giardino per leggere e ascoltare musica.
A 20 minuti di treno la città di Benevento offre una bella visita che attraversa 2000 anni di storia, sempre vicino c'è Caserta con reggia, e giardini e ovviamente Napoli ad 1 ora è una tappa meravigliosa per una o più visite...
Hello, my name is Maria Pia (1961) and I work on my small farm trying to grow most of what I need to live self-sufficiently. I have a son (2000) who lives and works with me (though he’s currently in Bolivia as a volunteer; he’ll be back in June). I cultivate my vegetable garden, vineyard and olive grove organically, and I’m passionate about flowering plants and wild edible plants, as well as those that can prevent, treat and ward off diseases and pests in the vegetable patches.
I use very few ‘machines’, but I hoe or weed by hand whatever needs removing from the vegetable patches; I bake bread, I can cook, and I make all my own sauces, jams and preserves. The house, its surroundings and the garden are well-loved and kept clean, so they require constant attention. I always have cats around and I keep chickens. Apart from that, I follow a mainly vegetarian diet with a wide variety of seasonal herbs and vegetables always on hand.
The vegetable garden is the focus of our efforts all year round. I save my own seeds, so I sow, transplant and tend to the vegetables as they grow. Every now and then there’s a new project, such as a spiral bed, a raised bed or rearranging the planting, but most of the work in the garden involves weeding, hoeing, watering and harvesting. In summer, we also spend a lot of time in the kitchen making sauces, jams and various preserves. Activities generally start at 8 am after breakfast and continue until lunchtime with a short break.
I prepare lunch along with WWOOFers and we eat together, then we tidy up and after that, volunteers are free until the evening (7–8 pm), when some help is needed to prepare dinner and round off the day together.
There are 2 rooms available, but I can accommodate a maximum of 3 people (so I can offer a degree of privacy), and I prefer a minimum stay of 15 days. Of course, bed linen and towels are provided. There is Wi-Fi, a washing machine and hot water, but I always ask for great respect in the mindful use of energy and water as important resources to be respected.
I’m passionate about cinema, music and gardening. During the day, I therefore prefer to be outdoors, working the soil; I have hundreds of succulents and propagate almost anything from cuttings or seeds. In the evening, I watch a film or read. The house is full of books in Italian, English and other languages...
I live in an important archaeological area with the city walls of Telesia and an amphitheatre (though poorly maintained by the authorities) and an abbey where you can see significant archaeological remains. Five minutes from home is a beautiful nature reserve with a stunning stream; the mountains surrounding my valley are easily accessible, as are two nearby hills. In the neighbouring village there is a beautiful lake and a summer spa. All this is possible on afternoons off, unless you prefer a hammock in the garden for reading and listening to music.
A 20-minute train ride away, the city of Benevento offers a fascinating tour spanning 2,000 years of history; nearby is Caserta with its royal palace and gardens, and of course Naples, just an hour away, is a wonderful destination for one or more visits...
